Honest question, how do we even reach the floor this year?
By passing out after drinking too many beers while watching this team.

This organization isn’t that smart. It’s definitely within the realm of possibility this will be the route they go now. As foolhardy as it is.
Yeah, I remember when 18 year old Biron was thrown in before he was ready. A player scored and the puck already hit the back of the net, and then Marty’s glove hand moved.

Just resign Michael Houser and hope for the best. What difference does it make at this point.
Yeah, Houser and Kotarski.
This could be like the 1985 Bills season where they waited for the USFL to fold and Kelly to arrive, going with Vince Ferragamo and Bruce Mathison at QB.

He has said if he not in Boston he not playing.
Rask just had hip surgery and is expected to miss 5 to 6 months. Training camps open in September. Ullmark will see plenty of action. They also still have Swayman.

Another left shot D? Yay!
Left shot defensemen have played on the right side.

Wait, where’s William von Barnekow-Lofgren?

I'm going to predict they have no plans to sign a single one. Maybe a small smattering of Riley Sheahan types to fill out the roster but basically nobody.
Also going to predict (and it's a mistake) that UPL will be our goalie and Power will be in our opening day line up.
I disagree regarding Power. With this crappy team, I think he’d be better off returning to Michigan for another year. If they want, they can then bring him in after the college season.
As for goalies, we may be looking at the signing of an old fart like Mike Smith. At least Hutton is finally off the books.

Even if it takes a year of Jack sitting, the rest or fusion option is preferred to what I'll call the "experimental surgery" option.
The longer this gets dragged out, the more likely that is to happen. Training camps open in September.

My only jersey has Ristolainen on it. I know how you feel.
That’s why I tend to not get jerseys of current players. I have no Sabres jerseys but if I did it would be #11.
My last purchased Bills jersey was an Andre Reed Legends jersey.

Welcome. The return better be huge to trade a star in the division.
Why am I feeling this will be a panic move with a poor return?

Can't believe he's finally gone.
And for the 13th OA, plus? Well done KA!
Hopefully KA has the same success if Jack and Sam are actually dealt.

It could be, since draft day 2014:
2 first overall picks
2 second overall picks
1 seventh overall pick
3 eighth overall picks
and ROR
...for a total of eight top 10 picks plus a top-10 league two-way C, and come away with *no* real top 6 C next year (with 2 prospective 2Cs representing the entire C haul from said 9 assets)
I don't think that can be allowed to happen.
Until proven wrong, I somewhat expect a Johan Larsson-type acquisition and expectations of him as C2.

Yzerman throwing Waddell off the top of the cage onto the announcers table
Yeah, that was a surprise deal. An article about the free agent goalies on nhl.com had said that maybe Carolina would re-sign one of Mrazek and Reimer because they had their future in Nedeljkovic.

The Big 3?

I would bet money on the Kraken and I’m not much of a gambler.

So, do they make these protected lists public?
-
So, the Vegas Golden Knights, who have made the playoffs in their first 4 years, and advanced far in 3 of them, don’t lose anybody in this Seattle expansion draft? WTF?
I don’t see a precedent for this. When the Sabres and Vancouver were added in 1970, they were able to take players from the 6 teams added in 1967. Of course, if they didn’t that would’ve meant all the players taken would’ve had to come from the original six teams.
When, the Islanders and Flames were added in 1972, the Sabres and Canucks were part of the expansion draft.
The big difference between then and now is the protected lists. For the 1972 expansion Draft, the existing teams were able to protect 2 goaltenders and 17 skaters.

If they decide to protect someone other that Ulmark that would be very telling of their contract talks.
Ulmark is a free agent. Unless they re-sign him before the protected lists are submitted, he can’t be protected.

Risto is a good second pairing defensemen.
The Sabres need defensemen and Owen Power is only one part of the makeover needed there.
Liger is Beniers mom.
The team SHOULD trade Eichel.
Victor Olofsson is a player winning teams should want.
Oloffson is generally thought of as a power play sniper and not much more. I was surprised recently to notice that he led the team in assists, although only 19. Eight of those were on the power play.

I cannot get on board with the idea that Chris Dreidger and his 41-game NHL resume is somehow more attractive than Linus.
They are the same age.
But it’s Linus’s decision to stay or leave. None of these free agent goalies may even consider signing with the Sabres.

Here’s the free agent goalie list per nhl.com. I could see going for a F.Anderson, Bernier, Driedger (probable top available), Mrazek, Reimer.

He hasn’t done it yet with the Clippers, those are just reports at this point. It seems like he was pretty spot on with the Spurs (though he was very good with the Raptors trainers and still left so I’m not sure how honest he was being).
His representatives quarreled with the Spurs for months about how to treat his quad injury. Kawhi himself stayed silent and the relationship deteriorated quickly.
Who are you betting on? Tage or Mitts?

Casey. Granato put him in situations to succeed and that should now continue. Bold prediction: he fills Reinhardt’s 20+ goals and 20+ assists.
