  1. Not so much conflict of interest in a business sort of way but time committment and proper attention sort of way. If that is what you meant, we agree.
  2. The more I think about it the more Id like to see 2-3 of these guys step up plus Dhalin and Middlestadt, now that would be the makings of a team!
  3. Gonna be interesting to see the line combos, but finally seeing some influx of talent and possibly the makings of a decent third line as well as a number 1 line! He is no longer in pain... ?
  4. ERod seems to have some faceoff skill, but bet he play with Jack... maybe with Tage
  5. Its not going to help, but if the message is we are part of a big tent and family regardless of our views its fine. If Housley or TPegs wear it like a badge of honor and carry it with them all the time then yeh that a problem. Once tried to work for a Hospital Rad department. They treated staff crappily but wore their Republican anti-union stuff blantantly. Me was just trying to pick up some extra work. Techs were miserable and scared, turnover was high... a bad sign regardless of political persuasion. On the other hand I have worked with and for Republicans who some of the most stand up people I know. Again it depends on how TPegs and Housley handle things.
  6. Depends on the Housleys’ if politics affect Phil’s job, more importantly I am concerned about the distraction and time commitment it might have on Phil. Focus with this young team is important.
  7. im 6’2” 196 and despite a little belly people think im thin so yeh he can put on some muskles...
  8. My other job we were without a contract for about a year and it finally got worked out. Agree strike is not necessary. Depends on negotiations. From what I understand management is trying to play hardball so hence the strike threatening... not in the room so not sure what is happening but SCOTUS recent ruling can’t help.
  9. My experience the last 5 years and the first time I’ve ever been in one has been positive for the most part. Again see above and SEIU is one of the largest.
  10. Generally agree, but I wouldnt have termed KO healthy, able to play yes, but seemed that his game was off. Whether it is because of post injury issues... or he’s falling off the cliff, we will know at latest by November.
  11. So one of the Hospitals I work at may be affected by a strike because Hospital management want to eliminate its contribution to the Unions pension fund. Folks are not thrilled with idea of a 401k because they don’t often live up to goods workers are sold and can be controlled by management. NYC area hospital systems could be affected. Unions have their plusses and minuses but in regards to health insurance and pensions and the reasonable dues make it worthwhile to me. Still interested in peoples thoughts?
  12. Interesting write up on what is left as far as free agents, https://www.sportsnet.ca/hockey/nhl/top-10-ufas-remaining-latest-rumours-reports/ Not sure if any of these guys are worth anything to the Sabres though...
  13. True occasionally you get an Alan Page, Rosie Greer, John Scott etc but by and large you end up with a Jim Kelly, a Jerry Korab and a Rasmus Ristolainin.
  14. Is it October yet? or at least September? Man this offseason is gonna be hell... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=etAIpkdhU9Q
  15. By this time of the year it can be in the 80s probably will get there if we have another heat wave like earlier in the week.
  16. Gotta be a RIP special, but I think he chose because he admires Bergeron of the Bruins...
  17. Itll be interesting just went to Jones Beach Long Island... water was a cool 74 degrees so I wonder if that slows the energy down?
  18. possibly on GDP, but I’d like a balanced budget first and worry about percentage of GDP down the road. We are so over that mark at this point... one step at a time and Id have to look at implications of that number. I suspect defense spending alone is more than double that percentage let alone mandatory programs.
  19. And Im hoping one of the young guys designated as AHL take a big step. If I had guess Ghule...
  20. Maybe Arrvidson, Fabri or Hertl but thats it. Like Point but he's not on Sam’s level.
  21. Not a party issue but a commitment issue, a helluv a distraction. And she probably needs him by her side for appearances, baby kissing yada yada. Gonna be tough on both of them. Politics is one of the toughest contact sports ever and often from within ones own party is the hardest. Maybe time for separate thread in the club forum. But it cuts both ways hockey coaching and politics. Oof.
  22. TPegs probably greases both sides of the isle if he is smart.
  23. Possible Housley replacement if things go south, especially with all the Swedes in the organization: http://www.iihf.com/home-of-hockey/news/news-singleview/?tx_ttnews[tt_news]=12849&cHash=a27c9b3e9019288e03093bdacabb46ea
  24. And this is where I come middle of the road depending on the issue. I want a balanced budget. Government imo should spend money to promote a safety net, a floor if you will... but conditions should be attached so that the money goes for only certain basic necessities. Therein lies the rub, my basics might not be yours. Food shelter clothing ( limited) and any income should offset that support. Also, in the US, defense spending is way too mismanaged and wasteful. Overall taxes shouldn’t be higher than 30 percent including fed, excise taxes, user taxes, state and sales taxes etc and the budget should be constrained by that number. PS SS would not be such a hole if the government would stop borrowing against it and once the millenials reach full integration that hole will go away. It’s a short-term gap. I would love to see a return to the line-item veto. It worked well in Virginia and as well under Clinton for various reasons. Still think though highly political can be used as effective budget balancing tool.
