He is young, needs more weight, gets knocked off puck too easily. I think the more analgous situation is Nylander, who came back stronger, bigger and can now take a hit. Send him to Rochester and let him get back on track and feed the kid...food lots of it and then have him hit the gym.

Goalies are a weird breed so even if that is being said... I am not sure you can make that judgement till he gets a chance at a lot of games in a row. I do like this tandem.. it seems solid and the least of the problems the Sabres have.

Part of that will be be putting Risto on 3-4 pair or even 6-7 pair till he unlearns his bunker mentality and gets back to playing when is was drafted. Almost like he has ptsd... gonna take time and a break occasionally. Scandella can't be playing as much either. Call up Pilut and rotate guys in and out on D, give them rest and get them to loosen up. Toronto has not been afraid of giving up goals...the Sabres seem to be instead of just skating... Old habits die hard.

Put KO on a third line, sit or waive Pomminstein, send down Tage, send down Ellie, though I like him on a fourth line and bring up Oloffson, CJ and Nylander. No, suffer with the rest of us, because once it turns... it will be glorious and nfw you route for Carolina...

Still think the O'Reilly trade will work out with Tage and the first rounder, but it set the Sabres back as a team... no doubt.

I want them switched... Taylor seems to know how to get the kids even Nylander to play hard. He is a motivator.. but does it with a smile on his face. Played that way as a player too. Housley is a teacher but not a game manager. He is learning on the fly and still hasn't figured it out. I would hope he would.. but it is not happening yet... and with the talent coming up in the next couple of years, I don't want it wasted.

Yeh, this is BS.... when the Sabres have been good they have found good players.. the draft though is how you build a team any team and then bring in a few pieces the fill in the last part. Also trades can work as well. Sheary, Skinner and Hutton have been good adds. Vegas as much as it is fun is not a place that I would want to live ever and I have been there a few times... the casinos are depressing...

Get him on a 5 meal a day plan plus a pint to half gallon of ice cream...

Scandella looked exhausted... Sabres forwards need to be told they are down 4-1 at the beginning of the game. Mitts looking better. He needs to be told to throw his body around more. Oof... tough third period to watch. Sabre passing under duress is awful. They couldn't block a pass or get the puck out to save their lives. TT needs to be sent down... useless... bring up Nylander and teach the young forwards how to hit including Jack... holy crap if I see one more OLAY by them... pathetic.

Agreed that is why I think why not. But I do think he wouldnt find the initial space he has found in the A that he finds in NHL. His board work needs to be better. That being said a lot of Sabres need to be better along the boards. PS Nyls has improved a lot on the half boards. Held a lot of pucks in during the game I saw.

That analysis shows me that the team is still trying to figure things/systems out both there own and who they are playing against. Noticed guys talking a lot more out there as they do so I expect starts to improve as they gain more confidence playing as a group. Still would love to see them just go for it at the beginning of the game regardless.

Yeh I am back and forth.. His work in the corners needs to be better and he wont get the same amount of time to get off that shot in the majors. He can move the puck up ice... skates well... Looks positionally sound on D, but nothing stands out. With space on powerplay he is deadly. So at this point he’d be a powerplay specialist. CJ has a better all around game from what I saw and Nylander based on reviews from last year has improved a lot 5v5. He was hustling most of the game and guys were bouncing off him when they checked him. He seemed unfased by the hits..

McDavid would be better here... Matthew is playing 2nd line now that JT is there, that is a helluv a 1-2 punch. I think here Matthews would struggle as well with no experienced 2nd line center. Mitts will get there and with Skinner and a true shooter a la Nyls or Oloffson, I think based on what I saw Nyls is more NHL ready physically. But Oli has pure speed and hustle. Those two together with a passer such as Mitts could be deadly just not sure Oli is quite ready for 2nd line duties. If he is brought up put him on third line, Put Nyls on second line with Skinner. Berglund or Sobotka on third line with Oli and with KO. Send Thompson down with instructions to eat 5-6 meals a day. Sit whoever isnt listening or send them back down and bring up CJ. Berglund could sit a game here and there as well.
