  1. I think Zemgus struggles in the strict scheme that Bylsma runs vs. the more open, or lack of, scheme that Nolan used. Zemgus maybe likes to run around some and he can't do that in Bylsma game and seems lost. I think Ennis is the same way. Could Zemgus replace Gionta on the wing with Larsson and Foligno?
  2. What if the players on this team just don't have the talent to be scorers? Scoring has been a problem throughout the organization in previous years. Schneider and C. O'Reilly are in the top 25 in the AHL but it doesn't appear that it translates to the NHL for them. Is the team made up of defensive players that can't score more than 15-20 goals even with PP time? As an organization do they have the players that can score 25-30 goals? Outside of Eichel I'm not sure they do.
  3. "Snowflake students" I've got to remember that.
  4. What is it with the Presidents of colleges and universities sending out letters of condolences to their students, faculty and staff about the election and offering counseling services? The U of R, Loyola, Stanford, Cornell that I've seen so far. Why the need?
  5. I appreciate guys who make the most of what limited talent they have. He found his niche in the NHL and excelled at it. From what I've heard he was always considered a great teammate. I hadn't watched an all star game in many years until last years game. I especially liked the times he would pop up behind the other players during interviews.
  6. Marner appears to be the scorer that Buffalo doesn't have in the organization.
  7. Ouch. And she started so well. What happened to Doug the anthem guy?
  8. I waited months for Rick to dream? Two to go was surprising but they were the most obvious so it limited their impact. The special effects with Glenn may have been the best part of the episode. The episode was too slow. Looking forward to the next episode to see if they pick up the depth on the show without Glenn.
  9. Great picture. If the election was today with the options being Trump, Clinton, Rubio, Sanders, Cruz and Kasich, I'm voting Kasich. Unfortunately he probably has no chance.
  10. I haven't watched the ASG in many years. I watched tonight because of the John Scott phenomenon and the 3 on 3 play. The game itself was entertaining and the Scott story made the game even more fun. The NHL is lucky that they went along with the Scott story and that Scott is a very good guy. Another player may not have taken the NHL's attempt to talk him out of it quite so well.
  11. We have 2 groups at work that I contribute $2 to. One has ~250 people in it. The other has about 20 in it. I don't want to be the only one left behind. And of course I buy my own ticket. I only do this for the bigger jackpots. It's worth the $6 to have the fun of the discussion of "what would you do if..." conversation with the family. Kids have especially interesting ideas. Was just wondering and maybe someone will know. If you were to actually win $500 million dollars, what do you do with it? Not what do you buy with it, but where do you actually put that much money until you could spend it or something else? In a bank? some other financial institution?
  12. Dream scenario (given that winning the cup is too much to dream) would be just missing the playoffs by a couple of points in the last few days of the season and then winning the lottery. Realistically, I'm hoping for a 30+ point improvement and being competitive in 90%+ of games.
  13. I hadn't listened to any of the songs until today. I thought I would listen to the two finalists. Wished I hadn't. I can't imagine either one of them being played in an arena, at a hockey game and having any celebratory effect on the crowd.
  14. I liked the show for the most part but could never seem to see every episode. The finale was weak. I'd actually like to see a follow on show where the rebuild of the country is done and how that progresses. Never happen cause there wouldn't be enough battle scenes against a very defined enemy though.
  15. I probably wouldn't vote for Trump but think we need more candidates from the private sector to run and get elected to public office. I don't know alot about Carson or Fiorina but I like seeing them in the race. Another Bush or Clinton presidency just seems ridiculous and the rest of the current crop of candidates isn't far behind. The one guy I know nothing about but liked what he said at times was Kasich and he didn't seem to be scripted. The rest of the candidates are just kind of all the same. Uninspiring bought and sold politicians who memorized a script and don't have an individual thought to offer.
  16. Others have said it in the past... Can't they figure out how to get a microphone into the press so you can hear the questions?
  17. I'm not a big soccer fan. I find it too boring. However, the first 20 minutes of the US vs Japan game is as exciting as any sport I've watched.
  18. Lot's of new players to mesh. Just hope to see the team get better as the season goes on. I could see them competing for the last playoff spot if everyone stays healthy and the goaltending is more than average. It wouldn't be the worst outcome to just miss the playoffs and win the lottery to draft first.
  19. Wow! I would have much rather had Neuvirth, Niemi, etc from FA, that 21st pick (especially in a deep draft) and let Grigorenko take that spot for the year and see what happens. 21st for a concussed Lehner and Legwand? GMTM got taken to the cleaners on this one. The 11am conference could be very interesting listening to Murray defend this one. This is the first move that makes me wonder about Murray.
  20. Grigs playing in the KHL wouldn't be the worst thing to happen for him and the Sabres. A couple of years there and the Sabres will have a much better idea of if he will be an NHLer or not. Grigs made huge strides last year and I expect he will again this year. If he improves enough he could push Larsson and/or Girgs to wing or Reinhart may not be ready and end up in Rochester to open a spot as well. He still has a ton of natural talent along with great size and it may just take another year or two to put it all together. I think the Sabres would be smart to be patient even if that means he spends a couple of years in the KHL.

    RFAs

Between the overpayment that is needed so the current team won't match and then the inflated compensation required due to the offer, I'm hoping Murray stays away from RFAs. I'm not sure it's worth overpaying twice for a player.
  22. I'm fine with the Sabres hiring Bylsma. Quite honestly I don't know much about him. The whole compensation issue is a joke. A team fires a guy and then requests compensation from a team that wants to hire him? Seems kind of silly, especially when they let Shero go to NJ without compensation. I'd seriously consider not giving them anything and find someone else. Let the Pens eat his salary for another couple of years.
  23. That was a good interview by Murray. At times Murray seems a little short on media savvy (by his own admission), but he came off very well in this one. Even Schopp and the Bulldog were listenable for once.
  24. If it's true that Babcock contacted San Jose, then I hope the Sabres have plan b ready minutes after Babcock makes his decision. While I think there are other coaches that will be just as good as Babcock, I'm leaning towards someone that has had success at the NHL level. Those candidates will probably be gone soon after Babcock decides who he will grace with his presence.
