  1. Lot's of work to do. Tonight would be a good start to get a win against Calgary in preparation for the show down with Edm.
  2. wonder if we could somehow get him, leave him in the ahl for the rest of this season and have him for next year? Otherwise I think I'd pass.
  3. Thanks. Gave me a little laugh this morning. :)
  4. I don't agree with the changes you propose, but I do think it is time to make changes. My question is how does it get started and accomplished? Given the current state of career politicians and that any significant change would probably affect their job status, they are not going to give this up easily. Secondly, given that most people don't even bother to vote and a possible majority of the population is very, if not fully, dependent on the government how does any change to the current government get implemented? I'm just not seeing a way out of the current mess our national and state governments have become.
  5. I agree that the tank may fail, but the Sabres still have the option of signing FAs and trading for players. This is why the tank plan is less risky than the non-tank. While the tank is painful, it is far more interesting than finishing 9th or 10th every year.
  6. Dan Marr from central scouting was on WGR this morning and basically said that teams drafting in round 1 this year would get a NHL player. I would like to see the Sabres package a 1st & 2nd or other to move up in the 1st round but not both 1s in the same deal. At the end the Sabres still have 3 1st rounders, but they've moved up in the order. I think their holes are so many that I'd like them to keep 3 picks in the 1st round though.
  7. I liked this article. He took an unbiased and balanced tact towards the topic and wrote a "news worthy" article. He reported the facts and pretty much left the decision of whether tanking is right or wrong up to the reader. Too bad we can't get the same from the local yokels.
  8. Good article. Too bad we can't get that kind of writing from the local writers.
  9. Very hesitant to trade for ROR. Would definitely not include Myers and Grigorenko for him. Too much promise for a most likely known qty.
  10. A better word for this thread might be exhilarating!
  11. I am a little surprised at how poorly they play at times. I thought they would have better effort but not win many, if any, more games. However in looking at the team I'm not sure the roster is any better than last year. Enroth/Neuvirth aren't better than Miller/Enroth/Neuvirth/Hacket/Leiuwann/etc. were last year and might be worse, I don't think the forwards are better, and I don't think the defense is better even though some of the faces have changed. As long as the Sabres finish last, I'm fine with them stinking up the joint. Due to McEichel it is the best way to rebuild.
  12. Thanks for putting this together and keeping it up to date. Even with a 9 game winning streak we're still 2 pts behind Edmonton. Have to wonder just how bad they are and can you imagine being a fan.
  13. I don't think there is any heat on Murray from management now. In fact, if the Pegulas weren't so busy with the Bills, they would probably be doing cartwheels over the drop in the standings that has occurred. This team clearly wants to finish last. The roster is built for it and a quick turnover after this season. There's probably only about 4-6 players that will be on this team 2-3 years from now. These guys just aren't good. Everyone that matters in the Sabres organization knows that and is ok with that.
  14. 44 sure can throw 'em. Not little short jabs either. He let some bombs go!
  15. Have some more work to do, but the outlook is much brighter than it was a couple of weeks ago.
  16. I'm pretty sure we don't have any first line forwards and I'm not sure if we have any top pairing defensemen yet.
  17. As of the end of the season, the tank is over hopefully forever. The day after the Sabres clinch last place or the last game of the season, every activity going forward is to improve the team.
  18. I heard the Total corsi discussion on WGR this morning. I'm wondering how reliable of a stat that is? Carolina was something like 80, Toronto was the second lowest at around -400, Buffalo was -910. I think they mentioned some others that I can't recall. Carolina is 29th but has a positive total corsi and Toronto is a playoff contender with the second lowest total corsi number. Anomalies? Not reliable? Needs to play out over a season.
  19. It sounds good, but the concern is how players that small translate to the NHL which seems to be getting bigger and faster. If he is more naturally gifted than other players, then he has a chance. Otherwise, in this draft, I think I'd pass.
  20. To endure two bad seasons and come away with anything other than 1 of the top 2 spots in the draft would be very, very disappointing. Selecting a Defenseman at all could set the rebuild back a year or two. The sabres really need the scoring that McEichel should provide in either goals or assists. Even to get Crouse, who appears to be ranked third in some rankings, would be a big drop off from McEichel.
  21. Do you trade Myers or the 3rd pick for that elite winger if possible? Or do you attempt to trade down to 4th or 5th and pick the next best forward? Is Hanifin that much of a sure thing that he is taken over the 3rd best forward in the draft, a much bigger need for the Sabres? Or trading Myers and plugging Hanifin in his place? Just wondering as I don't really know.
  22. Ennis is easily replaced in FA if needed. He probably isn't a key component if the Sabres are to reach the playoffs and beyond. Myers - Somebody has to overpay greatly to get Myers. He could be the top pairing defenseman here, but if someone is willing to overpay with a top six scoring forward+ pull the trigger. As to leadership, we still have all 3 captains and Girgensons going forward. The more I hear about the prospect pool it becomes clear that the Sabres are missing top 3 forward talent. Right now there is Reinhart, maybe Grigorenko and maybe Armia. Everyone else seems to top out at 2nd or 3rd line. I believe McEichel is key for this reason and am hoping Murray can figure it out. I will agree though it appears that it gets more difficult by the day given Edm is leading the way.
  23. Agreed there isn't much left that would be able to be traded. I'd start with the two UFA goalies. Trade Enroth for sure, maybe Neuvirth as well but it also might be good to keep him around because his upside is better. Then move on to Ennis, although might be useful as a 2nd or 3rd liner in the future, trading Ennis neuters the top line and he'll never be worth more than he is now. Next is Myers maybe worth more in a trade than on the roster. If that is what it takes to complete the tank, I don't have a problem trading any of them. The only off-limit players are the youngsters, unless of course someone is willing to extremely overpay.
  24. Murray was a little slow on that Edm-Pit trade. Would've like to have seen Stafford/Stewart sent that way for that 2015 1st. Just hope Murray has something better in the works.
  25. Of Of course Moulson does everything he can to score. The tank is not about the players intentionally making bad plays it's about the GM manipulating the roster to facilitate the tank. The coaches and the players are not in on it.
