  1. Thanks for the Russian translation of my moniker. I just may use it. GO SABRES!!!
  2. They were working on Orton the moment he "retired" and spent most of training camp trying to get him signed. Orton decided to wait as long as he did to maximize his leverage with the Bills and others who were courting him. Don't sweat Overdorf as a "negotiator" too much. He's our capologist, and a damned good one at that. Nothing he does in the process should be considered "meddlesome" nor does he have any type of veto powers when it comes to player acquisitions. He's there to make sure the language is right and the numbers fit the salary structures in place. He is no longer bound by the same previous budgetary constraints but that doesn't mean there aren't certain limits within various position groups, etc. I get that he's viewed as somehow joined to the hip of Littman and the old regime, but even then he was given too much credit for having more say than he did. He was given a far stricter budget in the past and expected to toe that line. The Pegulas aren't committed to that hard number which gives him more leeway, but the cap is a very dynamic aspect that needs to be managed several years in advance. Overdorf is a big asset in that regard. GO BILLS!!!
  3. It's "fargin" Icehole, you corksorking bastage! GO SABRES!!!
  4. I feel terrible for the kid. Knowing the kind of rare heart he plays with, it was almost tragic watching him flail on the ice. Like a thoroughbred coming up lame. Hope he comes back strong. GO SABRES!!!
  5. "What's your name again?" "Saul." "What?" "'Saul good." I got taken in twice by Jimmy's scams in ep. 4. I should have known better considering how often Gilligan did that in 'BB', but damn, that's what makes his shows a fun ride. 4 for 4 and counting.
  6. Who care's how much he can bench, I hope for Eleven's sake that he can do at least one pull-up. GO SABRES!!!
  7. That's better than living in the middle of corner sex. Or, maybe not. GO SABRES!!!
  8. Bogosian is twice the defenseman Myers is and that much harder to play against, which is what this team needs on the back end. In his first game as a Sabre, Bogo registered 1/4 of Myers' hit total on the entire season. In one game! Yes, in the short term we will miss Myers' offensive prowess but given how streaky that is and that we still have young defensemen that can develop that aspect, I'm not sure how much we'll miss that moving forward. GO SABRES!!!
  9. 3 for 3. Mike starting to come to the fore a bit.
  10. The one time Jeremy Roenick said something we can agree with. In discussing the trade, he said Bogo was a "big defensemen who also plays big...Myers wasn't always that guy." This dovetails what Murray said about him being hard to play against. It's all stuff we already knew about Bogo, but it was nice to see it exemplified tonight. GO SABRES!!!
  11. As easy on the eyes as Luongo reading Hemingway on the beach? GO SABRES!!!
  12. I really miss having offensively skilled players. GO SABRES!!!
  13. Does nothing to temper my expert analysis of Bogo's defensive superiority to Myers. But we already knew that he was better defensively, anyway, so I'm not really surprised at how emphatically he's proving that at the moment. GO SABRES!!!
  14. No need to wait. He showed more defensive prowess in that one period than Myers did in his entire time here. GO SABRES!!!
  15. I know we're only a period into his career here, but I'm willing to declare that Bogo is already a far better D man than Myers has ever been up to this point. GO SABRES!!!
  16. Nifty play by Ennis there. GO SABRES!!!
  17. Agreed. McDeichel is simply a better prospect than Tavares was coming out. Indeed, they are both better prospects than anyone since Crosby came out. GO SABRES!!!
  18. This is funny, but I don't think it's real. On the off chance that it is, it says a helluva lot more about Byfuglien than it does about Kane. GO SABRES!!!
  19. Yes, he'll be an immediate contributor. I just hope we temper expectations. Anyone expecting McDeichel to step right in and post HOF numbers in his rookie season just isn't dealing in reality. I'll just be happy knowing we finally have a cornerstone worth building around; a true bonafide difference maker on the ice. GO SABRES!!!
  20. Thanks for the link. Enjoyed the article as well as a couple of the adjacent articles. Apparently, five teams were in the bidding for Kane, including the Canucks, who didn't want to give up the asking price. Kane has some growing up to do, but I get the impression he'll work his ass off on and off the ice to get where he wants to go. I'd be far more worried if he didn't have that drive vs. his immaturity in other areas. He's got "hockey character" already. Let's hope the rest of him arrives with a little growing up as the adjacent article about Patrick Kane alludes to. GO SABRES!!!
  21. I'm not ignoring it so much as dismissing it entirely. GO SABRES!!!
  22. I'm not sure that's possible. Feel free to say Kane should be whatever you feel he should be. But don't make this harder on the rest of us by suggesting that the mere number of bodies involved is what determines the value of the trade and not what those bodies end up being in the league or not. I leave you in peace. GO SABRES!!!
  23. But you attach that condition to Kane because we gave up those three prospects in the deal so how can you separate their development from the equation? I guess I'm having trouble understanding how you can say we gave up too much therefore Kane better be a top 3 while at the same time saying how they turn out doesn't matter; that the risk to Winnipeg in that regard somehow doesn't matter. The simple fact is you can't say we gave up too much until we know how those prospects shake out. Unless, as I asked earlier, you think that Kane/Bogosian for Myers/Stafford is somehow giving up too much on its own. GO SABRES!!!
  24. That's precisely the point. Because if they don't turn out, then it will prove that the Jets assumed the most risk. Or are you gonna suggest that Kane/Bogosian straight up for Myers/Stafford is somehow an even trade even if Stafford re-signs with Winnipeg? GO SABRES!!!
