  1. I wouldn't say Kentucky is a small college program as they play in the SEC, the best conference in the game. That said, your point is well-taken and I couldn't agree more. I don't think SJ is going anywhere. He's too good a battery mate to Fitz and he would leave a hole on a team with too many holes already. I look for them to sign an FA veteran WR to compliment him. GO SABRES!!!
  2. It was a designed squib all the way. Chan explained why he called for the squib in his pc after the game. Long and short of it was you don't want to give the league leading return team 15 yards of extra field to set up a good return. Coaches do this all the time. It's not a bad call, especially when kicking off from the 20. As to the kick itself, Rayner Shine hit the ball where he was supposed to, on the middle of the football. And he was supposed to kick it very hard, like he did. The problem was he didn't aim correctly. Squibs are designed to be kicked very hard to a gap in the return setup and handled by blockers but he hit the up man square in the nuts instead. He may have slipped a tad on his approach but he hit the ball like it was supposed to be hit, just not WHERE it's supposed to be hit. GO SABRES!!!
  3. It will be interesting to see PSU's response. Given their level of legal exposure at the moment, they may be precluded from fully cooperating with the NCAA as specified in the letter. Be that as it may, I'm sure that Evan Almighty and his ilk will only circle the wagons tighter and continue to blame the media and everyone else in our "rush to judgement". Pegula was absolutely correct: the ONLY way to save PSU is for the full light of day to be shined on everybody, from the trustees to the athletic department and everybody in between. There is simply too much to lose. Unless of course anybody thinks that some parents, of athletes and non-athletes alike, haven't already made the decision NOT to send their kids to PSU as a result of this scandal. PSU has been forever tarnished regardless of how the legal matters turn out. Regardless of whether or not the NCAA issues sanctions. There is no "coming back" from something like this. All they can do is keep it from getting worse after the worst ends up happening. Whatever and whenever that is.
  4. Any ideas why JoePa didn't use "that authority" to have Sandusky barred from the football facilities IN 1998?! Or do you maintain that JoePa had no idea that an investigation of Sandusky had been conducted by PA State Police and PSU Police that year? Is it possible that JoePa didn't know the nature of that investigation? Is it possible that JoePa knew the nature of the 1998 investigation but didn't consider it inappropriate for Sandusky to shower with little boys? Sandusky was working out at the Penn State facilities a week before he was arrested. Just a few weeks ago. What does that say to you?
  5. I never agreed with anything Barry Switzer said but when he said last week that, given the dynamics of a football program like Penn State, that EVERYBODY in and around the program either knew or had heard rumors, etc., I had to nod my head in agreement. Coaches, wives, players, merchants around town...EVERYBODY over the last 40 some odd years.
  6. Said the Sabres were lamenting the "concussion" of Miller and how the league really needs to do all it can to avoid concussions, etc. But then he accused the Sabres of being pissed that nobody stood up to Lucic. Said the Sabres can't have it both ways by worrying so much about concussions on one hand while wanting their players to engage in concussion producing activities like throwing punches on the other. BTW, Milbury and the other knucklehead both steadfastly believe Lucic made a good play and that MILLER was the one who tried to hit Lucic first by turning his shoulder into him. GO SABRES!!!
  7. Mike Milbury advocating old time hockey and calling the Sabres hypocrites on VS. pregame. Anyway, nice clip of Probert of the Wings taking a run at Sauve back in the day. The Sabres' response was immediate. I didn't catch the number of the player, but he was much smaller than Probert and he tackled him to the ice. I'll go on record and say Lucic is no where near as tough as Probert was. Too bad Gerbe wasn't on the ice when Lucic ran Miller. GO SABRES!!!
  8. I happened to read this a moment before looking over at my 6 year old son and I just couldn't help tearing up. I can't imagine having to explain something so horrible to him. I'm sorry for you and your boy and his loss of a friend and a little piece of his innocence.
  9. I think your position is laudable. And more often that not the media and everyone DOES jump in to crucify people before the whole story is known. The issue with this story is that, while so much is still unknown, what is known is supported by sworn testimony and official police record. I have read and seen very few media articles on the case. I've read the grand jury presentment and a couple stories on the 1998 incident which is a matter of public police record. So have millions of others. This is a case where the media didn't have to do anything to inform an opinion. The facts of record are so terrible on their own merit. I'm sure those Penn State alums surrounding you are in a state of denial. But the worst thing they or the university can do is circle the wagons and adopt an "us against them" mentality. This is going to get far worse for Penn State before it comes anywhere close to getting better.
  10. I think you are absolutely correct in thinking that the investigation was done on the down low. But at Penn State the hierarchy is Joe Paterno, God, and then down the line. It strains credulity to think that Penn State University Campus Police investigators, as well as State Police investigators, wouldn't have let Paterno know that this threat to HIS program existed. And that's just on the professional level. Sandusky had been a pedophile long before 1998 and all the while he was close friends with Paterno. It's a good idea that Paterno has retained legal defense council.
  11. Jerry Sandusky, well renowned DC and close friend of Joe Paterno for over 30 years is investigated by Penn State Police as well as University police detectives, is taped while talking to the mother of the boy he showered with, admits he has showered with little boys and refuses to promise he will never do it again, and Joe Paterno doesn't know anything about it? Not a chance in hell. THE LATEST JoePa knew something was wrong with his close friend was the 1998 investigation.
  12. Sandusky didn't leave the staff until 1999. Paterno knew Sandusky was showering with little boys in 1998. AT LEAST!
  13. What did the AD know? Well, since he lied to the Grand Jury and is being charged with perjury for that reason, I suspect he knew an awful lot and that he knew it for a long, long time.
  14. Good luck with Penn State getting recruits after this. My son will NEVER go to Penn State because that institution enabled a serial pedophile for AT LEAST 13 years that we know of and never lifted a finger to stop it. The safety of my child wouldn't come first at Penn State. They have violated a sacred public trust and it will be years before they earn it back. By the time it's all over, JoePa will be grateful he was let go. This mess is going to explode in ways the Penn State faithful can't imagine.
  15. He'll never see a minute in general population. He'll be locked up with other pedophiles.
  16. Interesting how the author just briefly alludes to the 1998 incident in which Penn State police investigated Sandusky for taking showers with little boys as a "wild card" out there. Sandusky admitted to it. Sandusky also said he couldn't promise he wouldn't do it again. Does this author think for a minute JoePa didn't know about what occurred in 1998? The 2002 shower rape NEVER WOULD HAVE OCCURRED if Penn State, the Athletic Department, and JoePa didn't ignore the events of 1998. That little boy was 6 years old in 1998. Somebody could have warned him that 4 years later Sandusky would target him. Nobody did.
  17. Gerbe time is over. Next. GO SABRES!!!
