  1. I think any Democrat who is happy with this might as well be a Republican, so I can see how that makes sense.
  2. New speakers came today, KEF Q150s. I'm currently learning a hard lesson in room acoustics. These little bookshelves need room to breathe. Gonna need some speaker stands lol this is embarrassing.
  3. Really feels like we've reached the bottom of American politics. How can anyone be satisfied with this?
  4. It's going to depend on how much the party thinks it needs the left. The Bernie clan is already shitting a brick (which I understand) and Klobuchar (or Harris) would basically be a signal that the party doesn't give a damn about the left in any capacity. Biden is already the centrist on the ticket and I don't think we need another, but I'm not in charge. My choice would be Julian Castro. He's young, left of Joe just enough to be an olive branch, and a minority. I think he also got completely boned in the Presidential race and would shine on the VP debate stage against whatever schmuck the GOP trots out, Pence or otherwise. I think he's the perfect youthful pairing for Joe.
  5. With Bernie suspending his campaign today, making Biden the defacto nominee, it's time to see just how much the Twitter "politics buffs" of my generation have managed to not learn over the last 4 years. I'm all in on pushing this party left. I believe in policies like M4A. I supported Warren and Sanders. But the left still doesn't seem understand that this shift wouldn't be easy. They thought the Democratic party would just capitulate to their ideas despite the fact that most of the party base is moderate. The party's most important voters right now still aren't leftist millennials, they're moderate minorities. And moderate minorites like Biden, and didn't like Hillary. What are you gonna do about that? It took decades for the GOP to push itself to the extreme right and achieve its goals (as terrible as those goals may be), and that's with a base that follows with blind confidence. It's going to take more than two Presidential races to push the Democrats left, a party made of people who regularly self-doubt.
  6. I have no idea
  7. They really just need to throw in the towel on this season. It's over. Write it off. They never seem to have a problem with it when the CBA is on the line...
  8. They launched em here in WNY like two years ago maybe? They've been a big hit. We wish we were Canada.
  9. I think that's the point though. We're debating the qualities of a traditional potato chip, which is any chip that is potato and salted. Those are the controls. The variables are the thickness, cut, method of preparation (frying, baking, etc), level of salt, etc. So we could definitely pit Utz Ripples against Ruffles Ridges. I think we might need to split out the budget brands too. If I'm reaching for proletarian potato products then I'm all in on Troyer Farms.
  10. There's something off about this whole thing. It's only showing one post for me for the entirety of 2007, which is not correct at all. It would appear my first post is lost to the crash.
  11. Ruffles or GTFO. Gotta have a strong chip to heft that Bison Dip.
  12. Onward was great, definitely recommend. It got two full belly laughs from me and was touching without being too heavy (I'm looking at you, Inside Out). Also, between this and Steven Universe I think we might have consensus that vans are cool again.
  13. Looks like everyone I know is watching it tonight. I'm gonna have to make some dinner, crack a beer and get after it.
  14. I haven't watched any of the Transformers movies since the second one, so imagine my surprise that Bumblebee is good. Travis Knight (Coraline, Kubo and the Two Strings) as director with Bay only producing probably helps. Bigger credit to Hailee Steinfeld for being a great actress though, something the other movies don't have. I can't believe it's been ten years since she was little Mattie Ross in True Grit. I feel old.
  15. Trying to spec a new receiver and speakers is a PROCESS.
  16. He's got a goofy face. You can get a smile out of him but you gotta get him from the right angle.
  17. Take care of yourself bud.
  18. Understandable.
  19. If I could get Patrice Bergeron's younger clone and some other good parts for Eichel, I'd do it.
  20. You should give Mad Men more time, trust me.
  21. I liked the idea better a few years ago
  22. A show about a bunch of people who are awful? Are Seinfeld reruns not getting it done anymore?
  23. Definitely starting to feel a little depressed as this thing goes on. The uncertainty has me putting off doing/investing in a lot of the things I was hoping to do this spring/summer. I want to buy better speakers for my stereo system, I want to get a better mouthpiece for my saxophone, I wanted to buy darkroom supplies so I could develop some of the film I've been shooting (along with shooting more film). But these are all "unnecessary" expenses that I can't bring myself to make given the situation. But I can only read so much, and watch TV so much, and workout so much. There are other things I want to be doing but I feel like I can't pursue them and it's a real kick in the head.
