  1. I could buy a house tomorrow if my student loan debt was eliminated. At the very least I would have a lot more money to pump into the much vaunted "economy" so that all the wall street people could see their little chart go up. They should consider doing it down the road if the economic shock ends up lasting longer than planned. edit: I want to add that student loan debt is ultimately a symptom of a broken system. Higher education in the United States is completely out of whack given the supposed greatness of our nation. If we're truly the "greatest county in the world" we need to fix higher education at any cost. If we don't then we're just full of sh*t.
  2. The "essential" tag to me is more interesting as far as how it shows just how many of us do work that we don't actually need to commute to. A lot of businesses are running normal operations with no one in a central office. Technology has come so far that in many cases "the office" is now obsolete. Think about how much less we would pollute, how much less energy, how much less real estate we would use if we simply...continued this work from home practice? Though I do think there is value to having workers socially interact in real life spaces together, it's probably something we could get away from doing all the time. All of this brick and mortar office infrastructure suddenly seems...superfluous.
  3. 716 is weird. I've definitely had good food there. But I've also had some real mediocre food too. They must struggle to keep their good kitchen staff, which doesn't surprise me.
  4. Yessss the epic collapse Bruins Leafs game
  5. Damn. Fingers crossed.
  6. It sucks that these games are probably just going to be on MSG and NHLtv probably wont carry them.
  7. Port is underappreciated. Same with Grappa.
  8. Spinnin records, cleaning, and working out. I'm gonna be able to do a thousand situps when this thing is over lol
  9. The fan theory is that he really didn't like being involved in that John Scott scandal in Arizona.
  10. I believe in China they were taking a gradual approach. I think in a few weeks, if things go well, we'll see the whole thing basically go in reverse. 75% employees, 50% employees, back to normal. Then they'll start reversing the gatherings restrictions a little bit at a time. I think we're going to be doing some level of social distancing until the end of May at best.
  11. They actually just uploaded game one of the Sens series! Check that account's Twitter feed for the rest of the Philly series, they're all up.
  12. Got two rolls of government issue spec toilet paper at Wegmans!
  13. I'm blown away that people keep finding toilet paper places. I can't find it anywhere.
  14. I think they think public opinion doesn't matter because Buffalo sports fans are too attached to their teams and will accept pretty much anything to keep them.
  15. It's all speculation, unfortunately. The individuals responsible for getting out in front of this didn't do their jobs, so now our data set will really never be complete and we'll probably never know just how deadly this thing is. All I know is that in places where testing his really high, the percentages for infection as well as deaths are lower. South Korea's numbers are really good. A lot of the places that aren't testing as much look a lot worse. California looks worse compared to NYS right now.
  16. It honestly feels like they're doing this on purpose. Like they want to see just how many PR Losses they can take before people actually stop giving them money. My bet is Bills fans will keep shoveling cash at them and Sabres fans wont cancel season tickets despite all their complaining. The Pegulas might be scum, but they might also be right that we're scum right along with them.
  17. Even just back of the envelope math using NYS numbers so far (where it appears testing volume is highest) seem to align with the idea that the death rate is probably less than 1%. All of this could have been avoided if testing had been ramped up like...a month ago. We'd probably have a much better grasp of reality.
  18. I believe chiselers are exempt from the workforce reductions
  19. Yeah, they're definitely essential. Same with most infrastructure work, finance, health services, etc.
  20. I was asking around on Twitter today what people recommend as a first-person shooter I can play online because the last game I played like that was SOCOM 2 on PS2 like...17 years ago? I have an XBOX One, but I'm really not getting my money's worth out of it ?
  21. Looks like the lockdown is here folks
  22. Woody can correct me if I'm interpreting his stuff wrong, but based on info from him and the science sources, this thing looks like it spreads the easiest through high volume direct contact from things like coughing, sneezing, etc. So I would say perhaps do your best to limit the chances of contacting the virus in those ways?
  23. This happens to me with stuff all the time. It's very creepy.
  24. Basically the same as what is being reported in Erie County too.
