You're not the boss of me!

I don't know if rich people getting together to do rich people things is particularly groundbreaking.

Actually this is kinda the point I'm getting to. Being pro-Israel doesn't exclude you from being tolerant of a white nationalism in 2020, especially if you're massively wealthy. Again, I really don't want to get into this here, but let's just say that if you're a left leaning Jew who is critical of the Israeli government you may get called anti-Semitic by conservative Jews who tolerate white nationalism. Like I said, it's complicated. Judaism is not monolithic and can suffer the same corruptions as any other religious group... I would be wary of assuming anything about Bob Kraft...
-
I think Bob Kraft walks a fine line. One of the big issues of our time is Israel/Palestine, and the resultant growing divide in Judaism between the more liberal and conservative sections. I've been trying to learn as much as I can because I think it's part of the lense that is required to view current events. Without getting too controversial in here, I will say that things are... complicated. I don't know how much you know about BDS, Zionism, the politics of the Israeli State, reform vs Orthodox, etc., but in my opinion I don't know if I could call Bob Kraft left leaning.

Mmmm I don't know about that.

Why isn't this in the politics club?

Washed and waxed the car... Again. I think I want to buy an orbital buffer.

I'm glad they took Fromm. He should make a perfectly functional backup.

Per Dreger Sabres 2020 First Pick Maybe Available
darksabre replied to Brawndo's topic in The Aud Club
Yup. You absolutely trade that pick for the right player. -
I think I'm coming around on the John Marston epilogue in RDR2. I think I've finished mourning Arthur lol

Bingo. I was one of those people who tried to defend the O'Reilly trade when it happened and, with the perspective of hindsight, it's simply impossible to do anymore. The only way someone could defend the O'Reilly trade is if they were shilling for the people who made the trade happen: the Pegulas. They wouldn't have been able to put a downpayment on their Superyacht if they'd had to pay O'Reilly's bonus.
-
lol no it's not
-
The thing is, if Botterill doesn't have a plan, then it's the Pegulas who signed off on that being fine.

Probably the Ted Nolan effect. Though I think he probably coaches a little better than Nolan, the principle of his system always seems to be playing with speed and nothing else. It's a good message if your goal is to establish a hard working "culture", but at some point maybe the players are looking for more than just "skate hard".

I feel that.

The problem with that reputation is that, if it's true, you end up with employees who live in fear, which makes them unwilling to be creative, speak up when they think something is wrong, or take risks. You end up with business culture that rewards doing what you're told, keeping your head down, and hoping your paycheck keeps coming until you can find a way out. You hemorrhage your best employees that way. The good ones don't stay in places like that. The bad ones do... and then you end up hiring your family members because they're the only ones who you can guilt into showing up.. Kinda sounds like GM in the 80s...

If fans could fire an owner, would you fire Terry?
darksabre replied to PASabreFan's topic in The Aud Club
I need to know what position I'm in that allows me to fire Terry. Am I some kind of board member? God? An elected representative of the entire fan base? Do I also get to hire a replacement? -
I don't know, they've publicly announced that they've made the classic pivot to hiring "people they trust" which is just another way of saying they can't or don't know how to find good people. Turning inward doesn't feel promising, it's what you do when you're paranoid.
-
I dunno, their only response to getting grifted by the people they hired was to go out and hire their friends and family members. That's not better, that's worse! That's saying "we can't pick the right people from a vast talent pool, so we're just picking people we know."
-
I guess I'll say one more thing, which is that no matter what the Pegulas do they always come off as wildly incompetent. Imagine being Kim Pegula and saying "we trusted the wrong people", and having "the wrong people" be like..half your business management people? Across multiple entities in your "portfolio". How does that happen? How do you fail to set up a logical organizational structure? Don't they teach this sh*t in business school? Isn't this stuff "being a job creator 101"? I bet you could pick 5 people from this forum, give them total control over the Pegula empire, and it would work out fine.

All I have to say is that a lot of the signs of dysfunction that many identified here years ago (especially the stuff @josie heard/suspected about the way PSE was operating) are pretty much laid bare in this article.

I think I have to award this one to Indabuff and Sloptop (I'm taking artistic license). I can definitely hear myself exclaiming "Ope! sloptop." as I try to pick the top out of my Spaghettios.

Funny, I'm losing weight. I only eat when I'm hungry now, instead of on a schedule, and I've been working out pretty much every day because I don't have anything better to do after work. I'm consistently under 200lbs for the first time since I was briefly training to become a cop like...11 years ago, and I'm not even doing any cardio.
