I'm hopeful that things won't get to the point where we have to find out. Regardless of where things go from here, my only takeaway at the moment is that wherever we end up will have caused some level of suffering that is greater than it needed to be.

It seems pretty obvious that the people responsible for making sure we could do proper testing did not do their due diligence. And I don't mean to be cynical, but how many people do we think need to die from this (including from the economic fallout) to see this actually happen? 200,000? 500,000? I'm simply skeptical that America, and Americans, are capable of anything other than management by crisis.

That's basically the issue and the reason for all the hubbub. Because it's a new version of a coronavirus the medical community isn't sure what is going to happen with it. Maybe it just ends up being like the normal flu and subsides with warmer weather? They don't know yet. So idea is to try to slow the spread until they can figure out just how likely it is to either end or reemerge, and to buy capacity for hospitals and time for researchers working on vaccines.

I would expect the time between contact with the surface and the puck to be longer on asphalt due to friction, so I think that makes what Ovi is doing even more impressive. The best shooters are the ones who can go from loading the stick on the ice surface to making contact with the puck in the shortest time possible. So it doesn't surprise me at all that Ovi would be significantly more efficient at this process. I bet if swamp isolated Ovis shot in this video the results would be very good.
