  1. Hospitals "hurting for patients" is just the perfect example of how weird our healthcare system is ?
  2. There would be taint. You can't just take the stink off with a little Febreze. Sports is all about the stories. It's not about whether you win or not, it's how you get there. And the story for the Sabres winning a Cup this year would be: Team out of playoffs at start of global pandemic upsets frontrunners to win championship; 125,000 dead. I'm not interested in that! lol
  3. I'll keep it in mind! As far as the injury, that's a story for another time and place lol
  4. I've been out of cycling for a while due to a nagging injury but I'm holding out hope for a return this summer, and it that works out I'll probably buy a new road bike next summer. And one of my main motivations for buying a modern road bike will be that fixing flats roadside on a bike from the 70s is effing brutal lol
  5. Ah yes, the classic mistake. Time to start keeping that repair kit on the bike.
  6. Amazing. I wonder how many other random celebs have laced em up over the years.
  7. Did you guys know Evel Knievel played hockey? I had never heard this before but it popped up on social media. From wiki:
  8. Imagine the Sabres getting into the playoffs and going on an epic Cup run so that we have to spend the rest of our lives getting chirped for winning it on the back of a global pandemic.
  9. We would win.
  10. They actually only recently changed the rules. Military academy athletes can defer their service now if they go pro. And if they don't end up coming back to serve they have to pay back the cost of their education.
  11. The story went up an hour ago nerds
  12. That's kinda what I'm getting at. I think if we a. Eliminate the insurance company graft and b. find better ways to look at the costs associated with care, we can probably find ways to make the system more efficient and cost effective so that those inflated itemized costs go away. So many of the problems with healthcare costs are artificial creations of the system itself.
  13. I honestly think system that functions without needlessly added costs would end up giving you a raise.
  14. Y'all understand who the GM is right? The cap moron himself?
  15. Same. I buzzed mine off a few months ago and was in the process of growing it back out and now it has reached the UGLY stage. Good thing I'm not here to impress anyone ?
  16. This is basically what I've been saying for a while. The Sabres have a ton of cap but that's because they wont have enough players to even hold training camp. They have 8 players under contract for next year. They have to sign 7 RFAs and fill out the rest of the roster. That cap space is going to disappear fast.
  17. Did you see there's a new season coming soon that is set entirely in jail?
  18. The more interesting part is that I read a thing about how players do everything they can to make that hand size number as big as possible for the combine. So if 8-7/8 is the best Fromm can do, I could probably get to at least 9.5 with some training.
  19. Make a hand turkey and measure tip of pinky to tip of thumb. I'm 9" on the dot so I guess I still have a chance to throw that football over them mountains.
  20. I think this fails to account for the differences between us and Sweden when it comes to healthcare, socioeconomics, workplace dynamics (sick days). I believe Sweden had far greater hospital bed capacity than we do here in the US, which allowed them to easily absorb the extra load from coronavirus cases. They also believe in actually taking care of yourself and others by doing things like taking sick time off from work. And they also take better care of the less fortunate in their populations instead of feeding them into the wood chipper. That all contributes to their better response. The threat of coronavirus in the US was always related to our garbage healthcare system's complete lack of capacity to handle anything beyond the normal (which you have admitted). Sweden was able to handle this situation because they were prepared to do so. The US could never have been adequately prepared because it is not designed to be.
  21. It'll be interesting to see what he can do. I agree that he was probably failed by Georgia's coaching and lack of WR talent. The Bills have done a good job of getting as much as they can out of Allen, who is similar but different from Fromm: a flawed QB with some intangibles that make up the gap. If they're able to work with Fromm he could provide a nice 1-2 punch for the Bills.
  22. I've been thinking more about the Fromm pick and I think this is going to be great for them. I can't believe he dropped to the 5th round. I don't think he's got an NFL arm yet, but his ball placement is excellent. His ability to put the ball in the hands of a receiver under heavy coverage reminds me of Brady at Michigan. If this translates to NFL speed things could get interesting around here.
  23. I don't know if that changes things much except to make the number larger. What we're dealing with is in addition to, not in substitute of, "normal" flu deaths. If we want to extend this to the normal flu season then it's probably safe to assume the total will be double that of the normal flu. There's really no way to make the numbers for COVID look trivial.
  24. Incredible stuff. An entire flu season's worth of deaths in about a month.
