Movies / TV Shows - I Have Watched / Plan To Watch
MattPie replied to Sabres Fan in NS's topic in The Aud Club
The Expanse is a decent watch, which is a surprise coming from SyFy. It's a different take on space opera, being set in within the Sol system (our solar system) and using "plausible" technology (rail guns, nukes, and thrusters, not blasters, photon torpedos, and warp drives). Three seasons (up to current) on Prime video, maybe other places too. -
MUST BOTHER TO REMEMBER TO WATCH.

If my wild, no-information speculation is correct, not really. The Canadian kids that are "sure things" are gone by the second round and then it's a crap-shoot with various European leagues hoping players can adapt their game. Using 25 legit players per team, there are only 775 players total. I'm not sure how much turnover there is per year, but it's not inconceivable that there are only 75-100 open spots per year to be filled. Someone with more time could probably query how many players with >300 games retire/quit/etc each year; the rest is churn of "temps" that come in and don't make it. I looked quick but didn't see anything obvious to find a team roster with career games played to see how many were vets and how many are newbies.

https://www.hockey-reference.com/teams/BUF/draft.html There does seem to be a miss starting in 2010. I'm not expecting the last few years to have hit yet, but prior to 2010 there were a lot more hits in round 3 or later. I wonder if it's overall better scouting across the league. With so much video and information around on the internet, it's less likely there are diamonds in the rough. I started looking at other teams teams, and I'm seeing fewer players post-2010 in the later rounds too. One notable is Minnesota 2010 pick, Johan Larssssson. The Coyotes, Bruins, and Wild have little to show from their 3+ round picks too.

Nice article. I really wanted "Don Perry" to be the OCR misspelling Don Cherry's name, but apparently he was an actual coach.

I'm only pointing out they're less efficient at protecting the slot than NHLers not playing for Buffalo. That's hardly an insult.
-
I took "house hockey" not 12U as the insult there, but if you like, yeah, take the age out of that and it still stands.
-
@MODO Hockey , depending on how October 2019 goes it might be a better atmosphere in Sweden than in Buffalo.

It's the Route 14 Bus, stopping at Lancaster, Paradise, and Kinzers. http://www.redrosetransit.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/08/Route-14-weekdays-8-28-17.pdf

GDT Sabres tonight at 7 or 7:08 in Jersey (on TV)
MattPie replied to PASabreFan's topic in The Aud Club
A friend refers to it as "the bus station of the skies", lol. -
I suspect those things are related. If you're affulent enough to take off work and travel to another country for a sporting event, you might as well get some middle-class shopping done while you're at it.

Yeah, those Leaf fans don't know how to lose 4 of 5 like we do. Let's Go Buffalo!
-
Stick fights used to be part of the game too. When was the last time you saw that?
-
That's fair, it's not what I intended. Mistaken is probably more accurate.

I get your argument, but realistically you'll find one or two of something in Buffalo, and you'll have a choice of a dozen in Toronto. And if it's something truly high-end or unique, a few in Toronto and not in Buffalo. Examples: The nearest BMW Motorcycle dealer to Buffalo is Pittsburgh in the USA or Oakville ON. There are like 5 in the GGSA (Greater Great Satan Area). Buffalo's list of *good* vegan places is really thin, and don't compare to a couple places MrsPie and I like here. The number of museums and breweries around here is incredible. Buffalo is finally starting to catch up on breweries, though. Now, these examples aren't going to appeal to everyone, but saying Buffalo has everything a big city has is disingenuous.

Is twitter good, or does that not meet your standard either. https://www.nbcsports.com/philadelphia/eagles/eagles-fans-completely-take-over-jaguars-announcement-nick-foles

There were "Good Luck St Nick" billboards up around here yesterday for Nick Foles. Let's not pretend Buffalo is the only place with passionate fans.
