Anyone know if it's this? https://www.researchgate.net/publication/269719037_Characterization_of_Symptomatic_Hip_Impingement_in_Butterfly_Ice_Hockey_Goalies I thought I had read somewhere (back in the Miller era?) that some butterfly goalies have surgery as a preventative measure to adjust how their hips work so they aren't constantly damaged.

Don't be, I rarely read the mega-threads these days and never would have seen this. Don't (Ger)be so negative, I'm sure he'll measure up. -
If fans could fire an owner, would you fire Terry?

Catching up on this thread. As a (related?) fact, 27% of Americans believe the Sun revolves around the Earth. https://www.nsf.gov/statistics/2018/nsb20181/report/sections/science-and-technology-public-attitudes-and-understanding/public-knowledge-about-s-t (table 7.1) -
You're stuck being so close to Dallas, my condolences. ?

Even Rochester plus Buffalo is not as big as St. Louis. It is in the neighborhood of Pittsburgh, Cincinnati, and Kansas City, but I'm not sure those towns get teams if expansion happen today.
-
And "small market" in this case is 2x Buffalo metro area plus another city of buffalo's worth of population or two.

OK, it just seemed strange. Like having some mid-2000s plug that had a miracle 20-goal season on the cover of NHL 2020.

So on Golf; I don't follow it very closely, but: Is John Daly somehow relevant? I happened to see a Golden Tee arcade machine at a bar yesterday, and it was all "PLAY AS JOHN DALY!" with pictures of him and ugly pants (even by golf standards). Last I knew, 20 years ago he could hit the ball a mile but couldn't do anything else, and then became an outcast because of something crass or dumb.

Buffalo is #50 on the census metropolitan area list in terms of population. Combined with few large corporate headquarters in town, it looks like a great bet for an MLB franchise. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_metropolitan_statistical_areas

Updated Todd McLellan OUT of the Running Sabres HC Position

They wouldn't do it if the audience didn't devour it as fast as Kardashian gossip. -
It must be the eagles causing it.

Reading through these, I'm glad I didn't post anything; I would have been way too optimistic.

Heh, no problem. Even with that spread, I'll wager that you'd make up that extra $800/mo on home expenses. Furnaces roof, along with the little stuff like lawn care (seed, fertilizer), landscaping, minor repairs, dishwasher, etc.. I'm not sure if you $1000 included property tax and whatnot too. They always quote you the mortgage price, but neglect to mention the (around here) $500/mo you have to sock away for property and school taxes. In any case, house sale is moving along, repaired most of the stuff the seller wanted so far, getting things cleaned out and packed. I went the "pod" route to try it out. Unless it goes pear-shaped, seems like a great deal. For +-$100 more than renting a truck, I get the pod for a month, and since it's local, they pick it up on a scheduled day and drop it at the new place 1-2 hours later direct.

I'm guessing Risto has a ton more ice time, since he plays like 33 minutes per game. -
Movies / TV Shows - I Have Watched / Plan To Watch
MattPie replied to Sabres Fan in NS's topic in The Aud Club
I saw that after I finished the seasons looking up the show info. I'm a stickler for spoilers so I often avoid reading anything about a show before I've watched it. I'm also now resisting the urge to start buying/borrowing all the books. -
Amazon Web Services, essentially when people say "Cloud". They're pretty similar to the other AWS ads, just with an accent. "G'day, my web sahvices go faster than shimp on the barbie, mate, and AWS helps mah keep up." FYI: listening to "London Calling" album currently; I thought you'd appreciate that. I'm not sure it's changing everything for me yet, but I dig it.

I think that's "knoughn".

If you click on a Midnight Oil album in Youtube, you start getting *Australian* AWS ads instead.

Movies / TV Shows - I Have Watched / Plan To Watch

The Expanse is a decent watch, which is a surprise coming from SyFy. It's a different take on space opera, being set in within the Sol system (our solar system) and using "plausible" technology (rail guns, nukes, and thrusters, not blasters, photon torpedos, and warp drives). Three seasons (up to current) on Prime video, maybe other places too. -
MUST BOTHER TO REMEMBER TO WATCH.

If my wild, no-information speculation is correct, not really. The Canadian kids that are "sure things" are gone by the second round and then it's a crap-shoot with various European leagues hoping players can adapt their game. Using 25 legit players per team, there are only 775 players total. I'm not sure how much turnover there is per year, but it's not inconceivable that there are only 75-100 open spots per year to be filled. Someone with more time could probably query how many players with >300 games retire/quit/etc each year; the rest is churn of "temps" that come in and don't make it. I looked quick but didn't see anything obvious to find a team roster with career games played to see how many were vets and how many are newbies.

https://www.hockey-reference.com/teams/BUF/draft.html There does seem to be a miss starting in 2010. I'm not expecting the last few years to have hit yet, but prior to 2010 there were a lot more hits in round 3 or later. I wonder if it's overall better scouting across the league. With so much video and information around on the internet, it's less likely there are diamonds in the rough. I started looking at other teams teams, and I'm seeing fewer players post-2010 in the later rounds too. One notable is Minnesota 2010 pick, Johan Larssssson. The Coyotes, Bruins, and Wild have little to show from their 3+ round picks too.

Nice article. I really wanted "Don Perry" to be the OCR misspelling Don Cherry's name, but apparently he was an actual coach.
