It's fitting that he is one of the larger goalies. -

If nothing else, it was good to see the May Day clip for the first time in a while. It is often forgotten just how good of a play LaFontaine made on that goal. -
Be careful, you might get Drane going again.

It is kind of strange that they make the teams provide the balls. They're just asking for trouble. Have them all come from the same source and that essentially guarantees that they are all similar.

Grantland: 10 Facts about the 1988-89 Buffalo Sabres

There's so much potential in this idea, especially if we include other sports. Kelso and John Olerud get to join in that way. -
This will be a legacy issue more than anything. He's still getting into the HoF on his first shot, but these stories will stick to him forever.

I miss the days where they acted like they cared and didn't yell out random crap. The whole think is like a high school classroom now

If I've followed that correctly in the past, they multiply the players current numbers by some conversion factor and that's it. The factor is different depending on which league they are playing in.

I just wish someone had suggested this earlier today. ;)

I don't know. I can picture Yuri slaving away at his dispensary in Denver.

Grantland: 10 Facts about the 1988-89 Buffalo Sabres

That and there seems to be this crazy idea out there that the people who want McEichel expects the team to add just that one single player and then everything is set. I doubt that there is a single person out there who wants/expects that. I don't find it the least bit crazy to want your superstar AND to put together a surrounding cast around him. -
And it all comes down to what his motivation is. If he is the kind of guy who is in this purely for money, well then congratulations Doug, you got what you wanted. But what if he's the kind of guy who is trying to make a name for himself and trying to establish himself as a successful NFL coach. If that's what he wants to be, he may very well have screwed himself over. I have no idea which guy he is and I won't take issue with either of the two mindsets I just laid out. All I know, is that if I'm a fan or an owner, I sure as hell don't want that first guy on my coaching staff.

Come on, the future of american hockey deserves to have his name spelled correctly. I'm pretty sure you're doing it out of spite at this point.

That matchup in 93 with Montreal would have been really interesting without the injuries. Four 4-3 losses, 3 in OT, that's the big one from that era that really stings. -
Sure, they're willing to trade it if someone will give them the entire 1985 Oiler roster in their prime.

The bit about how they had the three top point scorers among non-HOF players was pretty interesting. How do you luck your way into finding that stat? Of course, by the time Selanne and Jagr get in, Joe Thornton will have passed possibly all three of them on the list. I wonder how his HOF candidacy will be viewed. -
We'll just have to wait and see if he is the head coach at UMASS Amherst in 5 years.

The contract stuff scares me a bit, but any sort of Myers-O'Reilly deal is very intriguing. We would suddenly be looking at a group of centers consisting of McEichel, Reinhart, Girgensons, Grigorenko, O'Reilly, and then some of the other prospects who may or may not pan out in a few years (and yes, I realize there are still some question marks in that list). They would be a whole hell of a lot closer to where I have wanted this team to get back to for years now, where they are so deep at center that they have a few of them skating on the wings. That's the kind of move that really kick starts a rebuild. I hope they consider it. Ideally, it seems like the summer would be the right time for something like this. That will be the time where O'Reilly can actually talk about a contract extension.

I get the feeling that they're very worried about getting one of those brutal arctic blasts during a game in Minnesota. I'd imagine that if they do put a game there, they'll aim for a bit later in the season in hopes of avoiding the worst stretch of the winter. If they ever do get a game, I'd kind of like to see Dallas in it. That would be interesting. Winnipeg would probably wind up being the choice though.

Paging chz, freeman, and SDS: Can we get a Pomminstein-style filter for this spelling?

I may just find something on Netflix instead of watching a NE- seattle super bowl

Yeah, that's one thing around here that is going to take some getting used to. Then again, yards in Boston were tiny too. I feel like I'm going to want to get some extra square footage inside the house just so we can have as much space of our own as possible. Indoors our outdoors, I'll take whatever I can get.

Thanks. I was mostly curious to see if certain builders were easy to work with or not and it sounds like you had no trouble with them. I'll search out some of their stuff later today.
-
If you don't mind me asking, which builder did you go with? The wife and are are playing around with the idea of new construction and I'd imagine that there is a significant overlap in builders in the Charlotte and Raleigh areas.
