  2. Maybe having 4 goalies that are capable of playing NHL hockey adds a layer of accountability. If you aren’t cutting it, you get cut. Training camp and the pre season are not enough to hitch your wagon to one guy but a short leash with possible “good” alternatives helps the team. Negotiating a 4 headed monster with waivers will be a challenge, with Levi being the only exempt guy. The problem with these 4 is there is no history of them being the guy for more than just short stretches. Georgiev had one good year while UPL has had one mostly good year. Lyon has been a career backup with some good runs while Levi has been the man at the lower levels.
  3. Sabres preview coming up right now on the Fan hockey show. https://www.sportsnet.ca/650/ Not expecting many bouquets given their previous commentary Just listened to 30 minutes of excitement about how promising the Leafs are.
  4. Great hire for the team! Yes likely to offset Adam Mair but Jarkko is a great hockey guy. He was an absolute rat to play against!
  5. Are Finns naturally bald lol?
  6. This would hit after a goal.
  7. As you are indicating, other than the few top tier goalies, it is such a tough position to judge players. One year a goalie will seem to emerge only to plummet the next year. It’s a crazy psychological position to gage. A good way to work around that unpredictability is to have a good defense and two-way and responsible play from the rest of roster.
  8. I disagree. For all intents and purposes ABC did tell the government to stick it with the reinstatement in and of itself. And Kimmel’s monologue further underscored the victory for free speech. What he said last night was far more insulting to Trump and MAGA and so far, no new threats to revoke licenses by the administration. But ultimately, there are no “winners” when it comes to 1st Amendment violations. That said and as you alluded to previously, I think money played a prominent role in Disney’s decision. Apparently, they were swamped with complaints and subscription cancellation requests by their customers.
  9. Not arguing your point, but Georgiev posted an excellent 2.51 and .919 3 seasons ago, and a "better than the others" 3.02 and .898 2 seasons ago. He was god-awful last year.
  10. Jarmo guy. No job title yet, but he was a development guy in Columbus. Maybe picking up some of Mair's duties? https://www.hs.fi/urheilu/art-2000011515504.html
  11. As bad as UPL was last year, these other guys are stiffs. Georgiev hasn’t had a save percentage above .900 or a GAA of lower than 3 in the last three seasons. He’s cooked. I guess he was signed so Levi can go to ROC? Alex Lyon at age 32 has started less NHL games than 26 year old UPL in their careers. Their career stats are on par with each other. They’re the same guy except UPL has handled a starter’s workload before and can still improve with experience. It’s a bad situation and Zucker’s hope is a ***** strategy applies here.
  12. The suspension is. The reinstatement is what I am questioning. Clearly free speech was not what resulted in him being reinstated. So it's not really a win. The win for free speech would be ABC telling the government to stick it.
  13. Your initial post was about Antifa being designated a domestic terrorist group and what's the point. This establishes the purview of the thread. Your later post asked a question "what's the long term goal?" The next post did not quote your post where your question about long term goals was posited. Instead it was commentary on the initial post you made. What is the point of labeling them? It's not like similar groups on the right have been labeled. It is hypocrisy. It was being called out. You assumed it was in reference to your question about long term goal. This would be on you, no one else. And there we have it. Then you proceed to take a nice passive aggressive swing at people, which isn't needed. You are engaging in the same behavior of "whataboutisms" and then talking about things unrelated to YOUR initial post. This thread is immediately derailed and I am locking it.
  14. No reason to start UPL based on his disgraceful results from last year. He will need to show why they should start him over one of the other options at this point. I still believe that UPL is most focused and at his best when having to battle for his job and quickly loses focus and attention to detail when he has no "competition" for his job.
  15. Not really.
  16. Today
  17. Free press having to sign a “pledge.” More MAGA absurdity. https://thehill.com/policy/defense/5515829-pentagon-press-restrictions-criticism/
  18. My problem is that Evacuate the Dance Floor is the quintessential Cascada jam. Anything else is just a tease of what could have been.
  19. I sometimes wonder if propaganda about the U.S. being 1930s Germany plays a part in someone’s decision to go on a shooting spree. Who knows.
  20. Maybe...Mule reference?
  21. Realize that the analytics say that Kulich and Thompson were very good together and they were in the offensive end and against middle of the pack teams. But, from the eye test, Kulich got absolutely stomped in his own end against teams with very good top lines. The Sabres didn't face many of those down the stretch, which IMHO skews their results. Completely expect Kulich to get better at that; but IMHO at least against teams w/ GOOD top lines, he is NOT a top line C. Maybe the guy to play with Thompson and Benson is McLeod; then Norris gets Zucker and Tuch or Doan and Tuch; and Kulich gets Quinn (until Helenius steals his spot 😉 ) and Doan/Zucker. McLeod is very defensively responsible and showed more in the offensive zone last year than people expected. Especially if opponents are keying on trying to take away Tage, then maybe McLeod's offense last year wasn't just a mirage.
  22. Here we go, AGAIN. Keeping the contract over talent. Play the best not the money.
  23. I think we had it only a short time ago with Luukkonen. January-February 2024 he was .919 sv% and a 2.31 GAA and 4 shutouts in 26 games. That's a half-season of RGE, particularly on a Granato "we'll teach 'em defense next year" team. Although that was the year of teaching them defense.
  24. Funny you mentioned that because I thought he looked a tad slower getting to a couple of pucks/areas on the PK last night.
  25. I'll add my voice to the chorus praying for the Sabres to be visited with some random goalie excellence by Georgiev. Can we make that a #fancystat? Or does it defy statistical quantification? "Random Goalie Excellence" (RGE). Let's get it going. #RGE
  26. Like you I think separating Norris and Tage is a good idea but I’d put Tuch with Tage because of his defense. Haven’t seen much of Norris but my understating is he’s a 200’ center and D isn’t Tage’s forte - yet.
