I dont see the greatest fit here in terms of helping the Sabres win now in addition it's in division. It'd have to be an overpayment. Still what are the Sabres trying to get other than Cirelli. Which to me is harder for TBL to replace.

While I don't agree that "all" of Sabrespace would still be negative after a playoff berth and a quick exit - you do have to admit it is not too hard to imagine all the "blow it up, we are terrible" threads after said first round exit. What I also so is the (fairly substantial) "Hey, we could end the drought this year" crowd morphing into the "OK, we made the playoffs, here is why I think we could build on it" crowd. After FOURTEEN freaking years, there is actually a shocking amount of optimism around this playoff-desert team, lol.

maybe you can trade him, but he's not an asset - he's either there to make a money acquisiton fit in a multiple team deal, or he's dumped to a team with lots of space who's rebuilding.

JJP is a different type of player compared to Sam Bennett. There was an expectation in his draft evaluation that he was going to be a goal scorer. It didn't materialize in the NHL. That can be contrasted to JJP who already has shown an ability to score goals. I would love to have a Sam Bennett type player on this team. JJP is no Sam Bennett and will never be, and Sam Bennett will never be JJP goal producing player. Different players with different skill sets.

My understanding is that he can play wing. His versatility is something to appreciate. Tage has played center and wing. And has been successful playing both positions. Considering the factor of injuries, versatility is something that should be considered a valuable asset. I'm so tired of seeing our former players thriving wearing other uniforms. I'm not against making deals. Trading a player like Byram (I like a lot), prospects and draft assets for immediate help makes a lot of sense. But dealing off young players who can contribute now and have the potential to even get better doesn't resonate with me.

Oh I completely agree. But if the reports out there are correct that Adams is looking for a 2C then there’s no room for Kulich (unless they bring in a vet for a year or two until Kulich is ready). I really like Kulich and think he’s going to be a very good cost effective player. Maybe if we don’t get that top 6 winger he can play wing.

You are right that Kulich is a top two line center in the making. That’s why I wouldn’t deal him. Aren’t you tired of being a farm team for other teams? If he were in an early stage of development, I would be receptive to trading him for a return that was immediate help. But based on what I saw last year he is ready to contribute right now as a second line player.

Peterka is already a top 6 forward with plenty more upside. So why give him up? To see him thrive somewhere else and see his name etched on the SC for another team?

If you get Robertson or E40 than you get the better player. That said who is the other top6 you add? As they might be less than JJP.

Nope, not even close. In fact, I desire the opposite, as would everyone else that visits this site. I'd be really happy to see another couple decades of the Sabres I grew up with. Being a solid team year after year. Always making the playoffs and often getting to the 3rd round or maybe even the cup finals. Sell outs every game and a years long waiting list for season tickets. I suspect we are around the same age and have seen the same things since the 1970's and I know we all want it to be different because it has sucked for the last decade and a half. From my point of view it has really SUCKED for the past 5 years with KA at the helm. I gave him the benefit of the doubt early on, but no more. The last thing I desire to see is more of the mindless chaos that has buried this franchise over the past 15 years.

You can't say that. Look at Sam Bennett. He did not come into the league as a brawny thug and now he's the dirtiest nastiest player in the league. Peterka is still really young. We forget that in Buffalo because Adams keeps building the all youth brigade. A lot of players change as they mature and develop. Peterka is not a finished project . (I'm not saying he turns into Sam Bennett if you read this wrong, just that Jason Zucker isn't rugged and definitely wasn't rugged when he started out)

So a player I’ve been thinking about is Kulich. He’s a center, right? And he’s not really a bottom 6 type of center. If we go and get a 2C then what are we going to do with Kulich? He’s not a 4th line guy. Do we send him back to Rochester? i think he’s possibly going to be a big piece going out in a trade because there’s not really a place for him.
