  4. Beware the Ides of Patrik Berlung and Vladimir Sobotka
  5. Today
  6. Dunne is from the St Louis area, about 45 minutes west of downtown. Maybe he will score tonight.
  7. Canโ€™t make the 23rd, Iโ€™ll be in Florida. But would love to meet up and game out at a later date. The wife is a rabid Bills fan, Iโ€™m the rabid Sabres fan. But I could bring someone else. My brother maybe, who my screen name is molded after.
  8. This is a prime opportunity to scout the skeletal remains of the Blues. See if thereโ€™s any meat left on some of the bones.
  9. Itโ€™s not my assertion. Itโ€™s merely a data point. How many more, if any, games of similar โ€œsuccessโ€ would you require before considering a different approach?
  10. I actually do have two tickets left. I forgot we had one person back out. PM me if you want them.
  11. There is value to a good tough guy, but Geertsen is not that guy. Perhaps if Geertsen had gotten into a fight in one of the Sabres' losses they would have won instead> Dunne is the only "dress vs. tough teams" guy they would need on the roster because of all the other folks listed up thread. For the record. DesLauriers skated 6:24 in that PHI-MTL game. DesLauriers is 34 years old, has played almost 800 NHL games, and although he's slower now -- he still good enough speed to get around the ice and make tons of hits (now over 2000 in his career). And when DLo wants to go no one laughs at him. He's an NHL player (not a great one, but still effective in small doses). Geertsen is a bottom six AHLer.
  12. Interesting that Draftkings only has STL at +114 on the moneyline. Not that much of an underdog considering this is night 2 of a road back-to-back. The sharps seem to agree with your line of thinking.
  13. Their 4th line resembles a 4th line for the first time in years. When Danforth returns, that will change the dynamic and Iโ€™m not sure for the better. Adamโ€™s swung and missed woefully last season with the Lafferty, Malenstyn whoever else was thrown into that mess. Looks like Beck may be fine with the right linemates. I like Dunne and hope he continues to find a role on the Sabres.
  14. It's just the world, in my field, I had an upset family member because I had to sedate their mother overnight (because she was legit jumping on the bed like a trampoline) and was 90+ years old... One of many sundowning patients in the unit. They came in in the AM and make a huge stink, when we asked if they would like to be contacted to talk to her to see if they could calm her down "no, we need our sleep" WTF. So even though that week there were at least 3 medical saves and awesome things that made us not hate our lives and careers, the admin felt it necessary to have 1:1 meetings about that case as well as me being handed a book about geriatrics by our Amazing passive aggressive c0cksucker of a CMO. Can't wait to leave this field.
  15. Here's a take on JJ's diss. If you want a podcast that's actually informative and thoughtful, and not a hot-take fest, this one is probably the best Sabres pod out there.
  16. The big difference between Binnington and UPL is Binny hsa 6 seasons in the NHL at .900 or better.
  17. What does "real" mean? Do they look more like a real hockey team this year? yes. Do they look like a real playoff contender? no. At least not yet.
  18. It's two separate incredible milestones. Lets them celebrate.
  19. Well I would have played Ellis, just because, but whatever. Blues are sucking this year so pounce on them early. The Montgomery magic seems to be gone. Unless it's a trade pending that's some serious message sending. Sabres should do that with Quinn.
  20. I mean it beats being the worst team in the NHL at home like they were for so long...
  21. Coincidently, that pace over the remaining 69 (hehe) games would be 82 points. So thereโ€™s that baseline of the .500 point percentage.
  22. I won't disagree with that but he brings a different dynamic. Lots of 4th liners in the league have foot speed issues. That's why they are 4th liners. They bring something else though and he does. Nobody will argue against upgrading these sort of guys but for the time being they are the best you have. I'm never going to agree with the idea that we need 4 skilled speed lines (not saying you do, but some people push for this at times). As a GM I'd always be looking for Tom Wilson types for my team but they are hard to find and when teams do they don't want to give them up. Right now I think Dunne makes the 4th line look better. Malentstyn for example is hitting more playing with him. I think that's not a coincidence. One guy brings it out in other guys.
  23. You want Ellis back? You also have to take Quinn and you need to retain on Kyrou. We'll make the handoff in pre-game.
  24. Oh, of course. But the Sabres *could* go 1-0-4 per 5 for the rest of the season and make it into the playoffs with a few points to spare. This last stretch isn't at all dire.
  25. So your assertion is because Geertson was in the line up they lost. Is that it? The other night I watched Philly beat Montreal. DesLauriers was in the line up. He got about 4 minutes (if that) (but he did have a fight with jackhole). So I guess they didn't get the memo.
  26. Good times ahead? Didn't a 13 game winless streak follow?
