Another guy I seen in Vegas/Henderson a lot and this player is nothing more than a minor leaguer. Who is scouting these players? Mason Gertsen and now Jake Leschyshyn will never be more than mediocre minor league players. Even if I’m building my minor league squad I would have passed on both of them!

Fair statements, and my thoughts were probably oversimplified. There's been a strike and 3 lockouts since then so players have a lot more rights than they might have in the past.

Well, you realize that they take their slogan "all the bank you'll ever need" seriously. And, though you may WANT additional conveniences such as multiple transactions within a single ATM transaction you don't NEED that. And they don't give you one more thing than what you need. (That's the unspoken part of their motto. All the bank you'll ever need and not one thing more.) They are quite the utilitarian bank.

LaFontaine DID pick his destination. He was 100% on board with the trade or it would never have happened. Same goes for the Hawerchuck trade to Buffalo. His best buddy in the world, Scott Arniel (who was Hawerchuck's best man, and Dale was his), convinced him that Buffalo was a great place to play. And they were really excited to be back on the same team again, well, at least until they found out Arniel was going back to the 'Peg in the deal. But due to who he was and what he'd meant for the Jets franchise there was no way they were sending him to Buffalo if he wasn't on board with the change.

Instead, the Sabres made depth moves and shipped off a true top-six scorer without addressing the void afterward. ADVERTISEMENT It feels like a wasted opportunity, which probably makes Buffalo’s placement here seem out of touch with reality. Maybe it is — betting on the Sabres has been a terrible idea for over a decade. But maybe this is the year Buffalo does turn the corner, thanks to internal jumps buoyed by cleaned-up depth. Josh Doan is not as good as JJ Peterka. That’s a downgrade without question. But his underrated defensive game compared to Peterka’s issues without the puck does mean the gap might not be as large as their point totals suggest. Add more Justin Danforth and less Beck Malenstyn on the fourth line and it’s possible the Sabres can cover up the loss in the aggregate. There is arguably enough young, developing forward depth to sustain a Peterka-sized loss. The more important factor, though, is that the jump from Connor Clifton to Michael Kesselring is substantially larger than the drop from Peterka to Doan. Buffalo’s defense corps was a major weakness last season, one that Kesselring’s presence can help fix. He did well in a top-pair role when Utah ran into injuries last season, enough to believe he’s a true top-four defenseman. Pair him with Owen Power and Buffalo’s top four looks genuinely decent for the first time in a long time. The addition of Conor Timmins should help with things as well. He showed some promise in an elevated role with Pittsburgh, enough to believe he can form an actually good third pair with the defensively stout Mattias Samuelsson.Timmins isn’t much, but he’s probably a better option than what Buffalo was toiling with last year in the same role. Defensive depth is something this team has been missing for a while. If everything goes according to plan after this offseason, it’ll finally be a source of strength for Buffalo. And that could be what changes everything for this team. The Sabres have gone from one good pair led by Rasmus Dahlin to potentially three

This was pre-NMC's though. Lafontaine today would have a full NMC and would either pick a destination, or force you to keep him. The only move here is for players that don't have clauses and are in their early 20's. And most of the superstars in that age group are... i suppose no one is "untradeable", but the caliber player you're probably looking for has already been extended and isn't someone a team is looking to move.

Yes, they’re playing in Sacramento, where I live. You probably don’t follow it like I do but the latest episode of the clown show was priceless. The agreement the A’s signed with Vegas had a clause where the A’s had to start building the stadium in 180 days. Before that deadline, the A’s held a fake groundbreaking where they rented a bunch of heavy machinery for the day for the photo op. What a bozo?! And they don’t force him to sell.

There's also a potential Bills/Sabres weekend Jan 17/18 if the Bills are hosting a playoff game. We only have 2 months that are road heavy. Three are home heavy and 2 are even.

I bet he suits up for a few Sabresganes this season. Might be a guy who makes sure you can’t take out of the lineup. We’ll see.
