Doesn't look like there is a goalie worth taking in the 1st round. Just wondering if you are still steadfast against taking one if they are ranked that high? .... considering that in the last 10 years here is the list of guys taken in rd 1 2017 • Jake Oettinger – 26th overall (DAL) 2019 • Spencer Knight – 13th overall (FLA) 2020 • Yaroslav Askarov – 11th overall (NSH) 2021 • Sebastian Cossa – 15th overall (DET) • Jesper Wallstedt – 20th overall (MIN)

The risk is it gets easier to pop out after each occurrence. It happened to me when I was in my 20’s and over the next 10 years it popped out at least 30 times. Any overhand motion (throwing, tennis, etc) would pop it out. -
That's really good info. Just so I understand, you're saying if nothing else is considered, that's the wins needed to get to the % as it sits today?

Yup. It's got to get to 3 in a row and then get at least 8 points on the big Western Canada road trip. Next is Carolina. Oddly, they have won 3 in a row vs. Carolina at home. There's a chance they could get a streak going. (Don't let it go to our heads though: they don't have Carolina's number as they've lost 12 in a row in Carolina.) -
I'm not going to over-interpret beating Chicago coming off of a back-to-back. But just focusing on this game in isolation it can't be questioned that the Sabres played well, and more importantly played hard throughout. The game against Calgary was disappointing not so much because of the outcome but more for the pitiful effort. So let's give credit when warranted and not manufacture criticism when not merited. Just some quick thoughts on the game: In general, I was happy with the effort. Maybe the Zucker return was a factor in this team playing harder because of his mature presence. It's likely that Benson will play in the next game and soon Norris will be back. So we should get a better sense of what this team is capable of. Tage and his line played as if they cared and were determined to be a driving line. Then why did they play so lacklusterly against Calgary? This up and down play bothers me a lot. Quinn played well. He's certainly not a physical player but in this game he at least tried to body up. Having Zucker on the line appears to have given him a boost. His pass to Zucker for a score may have been the best pass in the game. Quinn needs to shoot more and utilize his biggest asset. Samuelsson played really well. What a pleasant surprise! What's even more impressive about his elevated play is that he is our most consistent defenseman on the unit. And on top of that he has scored more goals than most of us thought he was capable of. The lessoned to be learned is that when you shoot on net you have a chance to get it in. UPL was solid. The Sabres overwhelmed Chicago. But let's put things in perspective: this rebuilding team is six points ahead of us in the standing. I was worried when Byram skated off the ice with his arm dangling. Relieved to see him back. When he's on his game and involved in the offense it presents an added dimension to it. Doan is a terrific addition. He has a hardy style of play and is more offensively skilled than I first thought. What does this dominating win mean? I'm not sure. It will mean more if we play well against Carolina, a good and tough team.

Is Josh Doan single handedly keeping Kevyn's job alive?

Ziemer and the Golden Gophers take game 1 hosting McKenna and Pegula State U. Ziemer with a TNT-dot rocket on the PP and would've added an ENG except for the defender just getting a slight deflection on it to send the puck off the crossbar and out of play. Ziemer finished the night with a tackle and misconduct after PSU crashed the net as time expired.

After Wednesdays Flame Out and the Bills crashing on Thursday Night Football, this game was needed. But rest assured that all but a few here understand this team has a big job ahead. The season is 1/4 over and they are 16th out of 16 in the conference. They are "only 4 points out" but they have to pass 8 teams. They really need winning streaks. Some people here get excited about 0.500, but that will not even get you close to playoffs.

There is a lot of "acting" in the Sabres broadcast with Dunleavy the lead. A lot of messaging too. The questions they asked Benson for example. People in the organization read this forum and other social media, they see the complaints. Seems like the last few broadcasts tried to address some things.

Yep. As long as there is no ligament injury, it should be fine. 🤞 -

It’s almost like this is common knowledge throughout the league and that three goalies doesn’t work. It’s not Lindy keeping all three up. -
What section are you sitting in? I should be in 102 if Stub hub comes though.

I knew someone who did that on a bike ride. He popped it back in himself, finished the ride, was a little sore the next day or two. Never saw a doctor for it. -

I fear Lindy is messing up the crease situation badly. Suddenly Lyon is nowhere to be seen. UPL gets lucky the team lit up the opposition. Ellis wasn’t great against Calgary. Now they all have to be unsure of themselves. Need to trade UPL imo. 3 ga only seems fine cuz we got 9. It’s still 3 and that’s not good enough. -
I plan on getting there right around 11.

Yeah... I posted this about an hour ago but to get to the point percentage of the last playoff spot, they have to win six games in a row. Not five in a row, not five of the next seven... Doing that would still have them out of the playoffs. From right now they have to win six in a row just to get to the 8th and final spot.

Got em,excited to see see you boys tomorrow! What time is everyone getting to union?

So are we still going to buy him out?

A quick look at his numbers in Europe show a pretty definitive view of a goalie who is never good at any level. His save percentages are usually below .900 even in European leagues where those numbers are often inflated. Sometimes sports isn't overly complicated. He's done a poor job stopping the puck pretty much anywhere he goes. Meanwhile Ratzlaff has been great in Jacksonville, and he deserves a chance.

I think the better way to look at it--given everything-- is that they have not played themselves out of things before Thanksgiving. It would not take much of a hot streak to get in a playoff position. Now whether they remotely have the talent and mental fortitude to do that is the major question. I doubt it, but would love to be proven wrong.

I wrote in a thread before the season showing how fewer and fewer teams in the East were reaching 100 points. This year might be interesting in that more teams may get to 100 points but the highest point getter may not have 110. Sure it would be nice if the Sabres could string a 6 game win streak together but it is very unlikely to happen. 6 game win streaks are going to be hard to come by for any team. That is the nature of parity. What we can't do is have another losing streak. Look at Montreal. They have lost 5 in a row and 7 out of 8. They went from 1st in the division to out of the playoffs in a few weeks time. You will see this happen to other teams as well. It's happening to the Penguins who are 2 out of the last 8. The important thing will be beating the teams in the division and the conference. That's where the season will be won or lost.
