Business is business....probably will get done at some point.

They are least experienced group in the league. They might have what Adams claims in 2-3yrs. They don't now
-
To the public/fans he certainly is silent. When's the last time you heard him make public statements about the direction of the franchise and his expectations? He's not a good public speaker so I don't expect much eloquence commentary from him. But that doesn't mean that he can't communicate his thoughts about his failed hockey team and what he is going to do about it through surrogates. When's the last time you seen him be interviewed or take questions from members of the media? It's not unusual for some owners to stay in the background. However, he's taken that invisible act beyond the boundaries of what is normal for a sports franchise owner. It's outright weird.

Reminder to everyone, Alex Tuch is signed for 1 more season.
-
From a purely skill based view, I can see it; from a defensive angle its far more murky.
-
"I really do. I think we have one of the top d crops in the league. I truly believe it and it was a focus and an emphasis this summer. We need to be a better defensive team. That's not just our D"

As per my above post, I don't either, but the contract may or may not look that bad by the end of it if the cap does what they think it will. For example, lets say he got 8 years at 9m per year. That is a lot, and toward the end of the deal when Tuch is 36-37 its likely to look bad. I don't think its outrageous to say the cap might/should be at least $140m in 8-9 years from now (considering they are estimating it at 113.5 in just 2 years) Well, last years cap was $88m I think? A $9m deal when the cap is $140m is the same percentage of the cap as $5.6m was last year. That wouldn't be that bad. I know a lot of assumptions there, but you pay in the back end of a deal to get the guy signed up front.
-
I'd love a shorter term deal from the Sabres point of view. If he went long term and got $8.5m per year (maybe more), with the cap going up so much that won't look that bad in a few years. But at the same time, I'd rather have the short term deal to take someone to 33-34 years old and then re-evaulate from there.

… You start a conversation you can't even finish it You're talkin' a lot, but you're not sayin' anything When I have nothing to say, my lips are sealed Say something once, why say it again? … Psycho killer, qu'est-ce que c'est?

Tuch is 29, I don't think I'd want an 8 year deal for him.
-
You are right, I looked at it again.
-
There is now talk of the cap doubling in the next five to eight years. Players, especially top tier players, are starting to see the benefit of shorter term deals. I was told that an eight year deal is basically done but Tuch’s agents would like a shorter deal. My guess is that Tuch blinks before the start of the season.

IF Tuch doesn't sign a new contract with the Sabres, we've got WAY bigger problems than there being soft demand for tickets. Until the puck drops against the Rags without him having a new extension in place, will chalk talk of him not signing up to our fears getting the better of us, but at this point can't really blame those that do allow that to happen because there's legitimate cause for us letting our fears get the better of us. (Namely spending the entire off-season bringing as much of a 79 point operation back intact as was possible.)
-
I disagree. He's made it clear he thinks Alex wants to be here. First of all, will Alex confirm? Secondly, I think this effectively removes the crutch of "not our fault, player didn't want to be here". If Tuch doesn't sign, either Adams got played, or it's because the Sabres wouldn't pay him.

Adam Mair Placed on Leave after DWI with 3 Kids in Car.
LTS replied to Mustache of God's topic in The Aud Club
So Adam Mair doesn't own the responsibility for choosing a career path that would see him exposed to higher than normal head contacts and injuries? And, they hired him as Director of Player Development. So it's not like they cut ties. He had a job. Do I blame my employer for hiring me to a position that requires me to sit on my butt for prolonged periods of time thus increasing the chances of health issues related to higher than average sedentary positioning? -
Adams makes a lot of sound with his mouth but none of it means anything.

That's about the most generic statement one could write. Not even ChatGPT could be that generic.
