  1. Past hour
  2. Announcers stated Sabres were just winning most puck battles He really did look good. Not out of place at all Charlie McAvoy was taken 15th overall and became instant starter. Benson stayed, too Who knows?
  3. How about a goal horn, fans cheer, drop the puck?
  4. I still like that timeline. Suppose you could do 2 years but Mrtka needs to go back to Jr's and then the AHL.
  5. Today
  6. I'm shaking my head at the entire list. Yet the cascada song? How in the HE double hockey sticks did that even make it. I'll admit I submitted the chorus to Cuz at least it's up to date and admit it's catchy as all heck and seems that it seems everyone I've run into enjoys it.
  7. I said the same after last season. Byram just has a better NHL game. He’s assertive. Power will need to become assertive if he’s ever going to get near his potential.
  8. That thought makes it even worse for me. I'm not a music guy. I rarely have music on in the house, and 90% of the time in the car the radio is either off or its talk radio. I've been to a total of about 5 concerts in the last 20 years of my life, and 3 of them were the BPO. But that doesn't mean I hate music at all, I kinda like most types of popular music. If a song is decent, I favor mostly rock, but there are some pop songs I like too, classic and more modern alternative I can deal with some songs....and not a lot of country but even some country. I listened again to the swords of 1000 men song, and I just don't get it. If you took all the Sabres goal songs of the last few years, including when the players got to pick their own, I really think this one would be at the bottom of the list for me. I really REALLY hope anything else gets it but that.
  9. The opinion of his 3 year development timeline has been near universal since the draft. I think people are starting to reassess that. Doan is a taller Benson - gritty and does the little things extremely well. He’ll be a fan favorite for sure. Won several board battles, stripped D men a couple of times on the forecheck, and had two primo passes on high xG opportunities to Kulich and Quinn. Not quite sure how you couldn’t notice him.
  10. He's universally liked, idk what there is to reasses?
  11. Plus the Bungles will be without Joe Rodent Home for about 3 months.
  12. Is Norris supposed to play Tuesday? I'll watch just to see him.
  13. What's not to like in a 4-0 road win. Georgiev looked like the Georgiev that backed up in NY and played that 1st year in Colorado. Hopefully that keeps up. Thought Levi was a little nervous and overplaying the puck early but he got the stops and then settled down. Will be interesting to see how he builds on that in the 3rd of tomorrow's game. Didn't think much of Quinn's play the 1st 2 periods, but he was driving to the net in the 3rd which is something he used to do but stopped doing last year. He could be a big bounce back candidate if he can keep that up. Mrtka is definitely young, but the skill is there and he does have a bit of mean in him. Am liking that draft selection much more after the prospects tourney and tonight. Knew Kesselring was young, didn't realize how young he looks. But liked his game; he was solid in his own end and not afraid to hit people and he was quick to jump up into the rush. Power even threw a light hit or 2; maybe there's still hope. Liked the 2 Russian kids too. They still need more seasoning but they both look like they'll be NHLers, especially Novikov. Still despise the entries on the PP. Östlund got a couple of more really good chances and once again was unable to finish. Love that he gets really solid chances; hate that nothing ever seems to come of them. Do expect Helenius to be an NHLer in a year or 2. Both of the checking lines seemed to acquit themselves well or well enough at a minimum. The BJs crew was very impressed with the Sabres work along the boards. Personally was impressed with their work in front of both nets. It was significantly better than at least the past 2 seasons and likely much longer than that. Both Krebs and Kozak seemed to play pretty well in front of our net. Wasn't paying much attention to faceoffs (was bouncing back and forth between the Crows choking again in the 4th and the Sabres) but a graphic late in the 2nd had C-Bus winning about 2/3's of them. If that was accurate, there's something besides the PP entries they can improve on. Will be interesting to see how the Sabres top 2 lines fare against the BJs lower lines and how the battles for spots 5-8 on the D play out. Will also be interesting to see if the top PP unit can do anything. Not expecting much; but maybe adding Norris makes a difference.
  14. 3 games into the season and they’re 2+ games clear of the entire division and also 2 games clear of KC and Baltimore. You really can’t ask for a better start.
  15. Oh, one more note, Marchenko, Johnson, Fantilli averaged nearly 30 goals per player last year. Might be wrong, but I’m pretty sure the Kulich line went head to head against them until Evason got tired of losing that battle and broke his big 3 up.
  16. F'n Hostile? By Demons be Driven? Yes please. More like I'm Broken tho...
  17. Columbus played one good line of NHL forwards. Within that context, the Sabres played hard and gave up nothing. People saying they don’t notice Danforth or Doan should re-watch the game with that in mind. I thought Dunne acquitted himself pretty well in his brief NHL look last year and looked very good tonight. The number of times a Jacket was prone in front of the net with Novikov standing over him made my heart smile. Kesselring looked like what I expected: engaged and competent in all facets of the game. People might need to re-assess their opinion of Mrtka. That kid turned 18 two months ago. He was playing against men tonight and he was good. None of it means much, but it was a promising game.
  18. Muel has one year if that. Novikov is going to come knocking.
  19. Listen to the chorus and imagine 19k singing along after a goal.
  20. That's all true. I just thought he was more of a physical thumper than he appears to be. Being in Utah I didn't see much of either of them last year so it's just my wrong impression. We'll see how he actually is over time.
  21. Maybe. Sportsnet had the Columbus broadcast on. They were saying Danforth was their "swiss army knife who could play up and down the roster". I didn't see anything to validate that but if it's true maybe he's that injury plug in guy.
  22. I wouldn't even say overdone, I think its an awful song.
  23. Unlike Power, I don’t think we’d regret trading Muel for one second. I think Mrtka is better than him already. Can we send Muel back to the WHL as well?
  24. I guess the real bar is Jokiharju since he played with Power a lot, but those are the guys that are out, along with Gilbert. Kesselring and Timmins are expected to be upgrades. Muel is the wild card. Will he ever be worth the contract?
