Taro T Posted 1 hour ago Report Posted 1 hour ago Did Kesselring breaking (even though he and Power were playing very well together, pretty much like we'd hoped) end up allowing this win to happen? Because really doubt Ruff/Wilford would've broken up Timmons/Byram and that pairing was looking like they wanted to be on the ice for at least 5 against tonight. Get Kesselring back healthy quick and figure out someone that Byram can play with. Quote

GREAT comeback men! They are almost mathematically out of it right now. I believe I heard today that they need to be at 102 (give or take) point pace to get into the playoffs which is near impossible. 1 Quote

"Mathematically" eliminated means there is no combination of their own wins and any other teams' losses that can result in them being in the playoffs. Considering the season is only 21.9% over and the Sabres could still earn 128 more points - no, the math does not say they are done. Being in last place at nearly the 1/4 is not a good scenario, for sure. Rags on pace for 95 pts ... Sabres need to play at 0.617 to reach that. 8 teams played at a 102 pace for the entire season last year - 25% of the league. Far from "near impossible". For the Sabres? Yeah, I would agree they are probably not making it. 1 Quote

Right because no team in the history of the league has ever played at that pace. The math speaks. yeah, this team doesn’t have it in them, but for at least once can we spare the woe is me crap? I have no idea why so many of you continue to watch/post. 1 Quote
quill Posted 1 hour ago Report Posted 1 hour ago What a sweet win. There were more than a few positives to come out of this game tonight. It had to be Tage's strongest all around game in a long time. Same for a few of the other players we rely on to come up big when needed to do so. It was refreshing to see the extent of the jubilation by the coaches when Samuelsson scored. It was almost the type of joy you'd see by the coaches on the bench when a team wins the cup in game 7. They were so ecstatic (or was it relief?) that I have to wonder if maybe they thought their jobs could finally be on the line tonight depending on what the outcome was. Quote
PerreaultForever Posted 1 hour ago Report Posted 1 hour ago Weird game. Looked like it was over at 4-1 but the PK came through and Detroit made a pile of errors. Giveaways and shoddy D on both sides. Thompson with the physicality that would make him a true superstar if he would bring that every night. Nice to see how excited Ellis was with winning. That's a guy happy to be in the NHL and doesn't have the stink of losing on him yet. You have to like it. If we could somehow smoosh Quinn and Greenway into one player we'd have a very good one, but as is they both suck bad. Timmons looked pretty bad tonight as well. Hope that isn't going to continue. 30 minutes ago, Sidc3000 said: They are almost mathematically out of it right now. That assumes all the teams above them (in the playoffs) maintain their current pace. That won't happen either. Not likely. 2 1 Quote

I don't think Greenway deserves that kind of description so soon after just coming back from the type of long injury he just had. How about we give him a little more time to get back to the role he played for us in the past when he was healthy. OTOH I couldn't agree more about Quinn. For someone who was supposed to be a goal scoring sniper he consistently disappoints. Quote
