I cannot get to relying on a solitary draft pick to be yet another savior. We tried it with Jack, even with providing tons of support for him.  It doesn’t work. Let whatever draft picks we get come up through the ranks but some 18 yo kid ain’t it.  They need actual real hockey players.  They need to move on from Power, Quinn, Samuelsson and probably a few other names that fans will get real butt hurt about.  Whatever they are doing ain’t it.  Blow it up. I’ve a gritty hardworking lineup that Buffalo will relate to and move on from the Tommy Dangles of the world.  It’s over.

The problem is not just losing Peterka, it’s not replacing him.  

What we are seeing is a depleted top 6 over the past few years and now they can’t score   

When Skinner was released we didn’t replace his production.  When Quinn was hurt two years ago they didn’t replace his production, and when he came back he disappointed and looks like a shadow of what he was.   Cozens was replaced by Norris, until he wasn’t.  Peterka had not been replaced. 

Getting Benson back will help but even if he can score  20-23 goals it won’t replace all the losses.  
 

Contrast this with Florida.  They added Marchand.  Barkov is out, Tkachuk is out.  They are utilizing superior roster depth by playing Lundell and Bennett up one line AND they have Marchand.  They also have prospects to bring up and play in a winning environment, not in a desperate environment.   Marchand will prove to be a smart move.  
 

Adam’s has been consistently bad at evaluating his roster and adding veteran depth.

I've been a Lindy Ruff fan since he played for the team.  Loved him in his first coaching go-round.  That said, it's time.  I'd be in favor of Leone as HC and Jarmo as GM to see what they can do with the rest of the season and go from there.  While Appert had some success in Rochester and has nice hair, his college coaching record is bad.  He's been terrible as an assistant coach/power play coach.  Leone just seems to be a guy on the rise and he's in the organization already.  I don't even know what he (or his hair) looks like, but I don't care.  Give him a shot.  It can't be any worse than what's going on now and sometimes in-season coaching changes work.  Berube did extremely well in St. Louis and Kris Knoblauch did the same in Edmonton, as in-season hires.  I realize that Connor McDavid is not going to come walking through that door, but the team was on a major skid and Knoblauch came in and turned it around quickly.  Some guys just have good systems and/or relate well to players and I think Leone may be that kind of guy.

Appert had a great run with the Amerks but these last two years have hurt his reputation. Maybe that's unfair but I'd rather Leone get the promotion.

I mean this season is over already.  in record time.  The rest of the games are for entertainment purposes only (if you can call it that), or to go watch the opponent.  It's really just to see what their draft position will be in 2026.  It's not funny, I'm sad what this franchise has become.  I was there in the 70's, 80's, 90's and saw the good times too.

You're in a bind if you fire the coach now, because when you fire the GM at the end of the year the new GM is going to want to bring in his own coach. So I see Pegula sitting on his hands all season before the house gets cleaned at the end of the year.
