Alex Lyon was the Panthers goalie who beat Buffalo 2-1 two years ago late in the season when the Sabres were chasing Florida for the final playoff spot. I was at that game in Sunrise. Alex Tuch scored but his the goal overturned on an flimsy offside review.

The Buffalo News has it, too, and since TBN is always slow, I have to think there's something to it.

Lyon is an upgrade over Reimer, I suppose.

Lyons was an undrafted UFA who had some nice moments in Philadelphia and Detroit.  He's an upgrade over Reimer.  It's still underwhelming.  Typical Buffalo focus,"underwhelming ".

Lyon kept the Sabres out of the playoffs in '23 and he can repeat the feat in '26.  🤬

 

Lyon played lights out while Bobrovsky was out in '23.  He's done pretty much nothing since.  We can't say the Sabres don't have a type when looking to the outside for goaltending help.

He was alright for Detroit.  However we are Buffalo.  Throw us your cowchips.

Yes.  He was "alright" for Detroit.  Not actually good, but alright.  The Sabres don't play defense well enough in front of their goalie to be making their addition in net Carter friggin' Hutton.  Not heading into year 15 of an already 14 year drought.

At least it's better than dropping real money on Jake Allen.  Realize Allen is better; but not enough better to justify the significantly greater salary he'll likely get.

Tell us ownership and management STILL don't mind missing the playoffs without telling us ownership and management still don't mind missing the playoffs.

He's about to extend but definitely would love an upgrade in goal.

Arturs Silovs is a 24yr old goalie for vancouver in the AHL. He's been meh when called up but was just lights out in the AHL. I would guess they will be moving him at some point. 6'4" Latvian netminder.
