Let's see there's Peterka, Cozens, Jokiharju, Benson and... unsure of the last guy on the ice for that... power? I think power.

Was Benson that I missed. Terrible play from him.

I was worried Adams was going to narrow down trade options for Byram looking for a RHD, did not expect him to do it with his best trade asset.

I imagine if they had waited to move Cozens until the offseason there would have been more suitors.

I am worried about Kesselring ability to play up the lineup for the Sabres, not because of the player, but the organization’s track record with defenseman outside Dahlin lately is suspect at best.

The second last year for Beck and now this trade shows concerning behavior with some asset evaluation.

And I do like Kesselring, Doan and Malenstyn on the roster.

Sadly, what might be best for the LT is Adams actually effectuates more of an NHL team that still ends up underperforming FORCING ownership and management to come to what seems to be what should be a glaring realization: the coaching on this team is darn near the absolute worst in the league in at least 2 major areas: defensivie system and pp tactics.

Absolutely don't want to watch another losing season.  Soooooo truly tired of it.

True best case might be them falling flat on their faces in October, a house cleaning happens, and the players are so bouyed by finally having a structure they can work in that they play at a 110+ point pace the rest of the year and sneak into the playoffs.

It’s a good place to start re: prediction for a Byram deal. Think player with good metrics in more limited minutes we think we can bump up to a larger role

Remember: we aren’t looking for a guy with proven results, here: we are looking for someone unproven in an impact role but theoretically potentially able to play one

Sillinger out of Columbus.

Kyrou would have been a nice get but I have to assume the Sabres would have been adding a LOT more than Peterka in that deal...

Having Tuch and Kyrou( who is better defensively) as top wingers, I would have added to get him

Missing #9 Benson who was the first man at the puck.

He avoided surgery and should be go to go for training camp

Any word on how much upper body strength he's developed / working towards considering lower body has been pretty much on hold?

He needs to get comfortable with his shot.  If he can do that, maybe he'll start to live up to expectations.  (That and have somebody, clearly not a Sabre coach, but somebody, teach him that he doesn't have to ALWAYS DROP THE PUCK BACK 70'+ EVERY SINGLE TIME HE CARRIES THE PUCK ON THE PP.)

I agree. I just wonder what exactly that ask was. We'll probably never know.

absolutely unreal if true.

This is a bit stupid to be honest….clearly they don’t look at team needs at all!

okay a team offered two first round picks, great, so we get pick 18 and 30 and 2 low level guys, doesn’t help us at all

kyrou is older Peterka

Dobson is older Byram that wants 10 million per year

those don’t make sense! And for those that say take the picks and use them for additional assets, there has been very few first rounders moved for talent in the last few years, it just doesn’t happen much, so there is zero guarantee you can do that

take the forsure thing that helps you now and gives you flexibility in cap space that now you can aquire a top 6 winger via trade or free agency

Kyrou-8.125 million

Dobson-projected 10.25 million

Rossi-projected 7.6 million

Doan and Kesselring-combined 2.3 million

Makes sense

Stadium overruns are pricey, gotta save where you can. Don't wanna have to mortgage the yacht.

I wonder if the priority was getting the best return possible

We’ll never know

You think Kesslering and Doan are worth more than  1st round pick each?

Kyrou is the player you hope Peterka becomes and is cost controlled through his prime years.

Dobson would be the second best defenseman on the team behind Dahlin

Since EEE went into effect the Sabres have not been overly active in UFA.

Since the Hall signing, the organization rep around the league has gotten much worse, would Marner, Ehlers or Tavares even consider taking a call from the Sabres?

The replacement of the lower bowl seating at KBC was postponed this offseason, I wonder if that is to sign an expensive UFA-lol who am I kidding

So it was Peterka that Seravalli was teasing with his Kyrou stuff yesterday.

Lance sliding out the “driving teammates and coaches crazy with high-risk plays and lack of defensive effort” is interesting. Tracks with what I saw from him, tracks with the culture change stuff. Also tracks with the idea Lance is a shill and this is a narrative to cloud a penny-pinching motivation.

The rest of it all ties with what I posted elsewhere about how the move fits into the big picture. Kyrou is an older, better slightly more expensive Peterka. Dobson an older, better, slightly more expensive right-handed Power.

Is this Kevyn once again trying to prove he’s smarter by not chasing the bigger names?

Forgive me for generalizing, but I think in general Sabrespace likes what Kesselring and Doan should bring but don’t like the hole the trade creates, or the idea the Sabres are going cheap again.

How are they going to backfill the hole? Their other holes? Will they use the cap space?

Going to be an interesting few days.

I think it was getting an affordable RHD. As We're already over paying for Power and Samuellsson. While I would have wanted a little more as unsure Doan anything more than a 3rd liner if we can move Byram for a top 6 forward and a little more we might be improved so long as we address goaltender too either via trade or in free agency.

I've been waiting for something to happen so, this is kinda fun! I've fully expected them to pay JJP this year, trade byram for a righty, and trade tuch at the deadline.

This move sure opens the door for those rumoured Rust or Rakell for Huselius or #9 short-term gain for long-term pain deals.

Should I be worried? Excited?
