Benson is completely untouchable

Lastly, if he wants more than 11.5mil we can't do it because we lack the cap flexibility to keep him at this number. Effectively we'd have to let Tuch go which defeats the purpose of getting Robertson to upgrade the Top 6.

Good teams bring in players like this all the time and never have a problem making the cap work.  Trade Samuelsson or Power.

I'm not trading Power; also Buffalo has never been capable of moving players without overpaying to get rid of them.

If Robertson is available I’m trading anyone not named Dahlin, Thompson or Power. I’d even trade Kulich who I am super high on. And with the cap going up I think they could afford Tuch as well.

I also would trade Kulich for Robertson and I wouldnt even blink.

No with stripping a team for a player who is going to require a$12M plus on a long-term deal. To get a player like Johnson it would take dispatching multiple young players such as Power, Kulich and Benson plus picks. That makes little sense to me, especially for a team that is thin to begin with. Good franchises that are competently run usually end up doing what they have to do to keep their best players. Buffalo doesn't fall in that competently run category.

Would be great if they could bring him in.  Was hoping he was what Adams was targeting when it became official that Peterka wanted out.

Will believe the Sabres are in on it shortly after watching the press conference announcing it's happened and not 1 minute sooner.

Without Peterka, how does this trade work?

Helenius? Kulich? You'd have to dump Samuelsson or similar salary. Tuchs extension would have to be factored into Robertsons.

You're probably losing your 2026 1st but you'd have to top 10 protect it and already don't have a 2nd in the deepest draft in years. 

I just don't know what this looks like.
