Levi just has a habit of shutouts.

  • 8 in 37 junior games
  • 16 in 66 college games
  • 3 in 7 World Junior games
  • 9 in 45 AHL games this year.

That's insane.

Kid has shown he'll have a few stinkers but also incredibly good at shutouts

Except in the NHL where he allows 4+ goals a game and has gotten progressively worse each year

The Crunch got Crunched.

At least they’ll have lots of time scout Laval, maybe get Komorov & Prow back, and hopefully Levi stays hot.

Game story from tonight:

https://pickinsplinters.com/2025/05/01/levi-jobst-come-up-big-as-amerks-complete-the-sweep/

“I gotta give credit to our D-corps,” coach Michael Leone said. “Syracuse is a big, heavy team, I’ve heard all about it, but our guys gave up no goals in two games. Yeah, it’s the goalie for sure, credit to Dev, he got the game puck today, but there’s five other guys out there that are making it really hard on the other team.”

No, a true comment

No, bad goaltending.

I guess you can form a permanent opinion based on a handful of NHL games.  Also, here is NHL Hall of famer’s second stint in the NHL.

0-3 record

5.08 GAA

.795 Save percentage

Ryan Miller struggled quite a bit at first as well.  Goaltending is part witchcraft anyway and Levi has an ethereal presence so I’m going to hold out hope until he proves me wrong.

When did he get into the hall of fame?

I’ve got an old hat on.  If Jobst gets one more, I’m leaving on the ice in Syracuse.

Just a reminder: If you throw your hat onto the ice don't forget to take it off your head before doing so. 😃

How's Helenius looking? I like that kid.

He’s playing wing on a 3rd line with Kozak.

Playing well, but not standing out skill-wise?

He’s producing and he’s engaged, seems to be buying into the system and playing smart hockey.

You can tell he’s got a competitive streak in him and I like how he reacts to the rough stuff.

I’ve liked what I’ve seen.

Watching Östlund these past 3 games, I’m starting to wonder if his future is Ryan McLeod. Hasn’t produced but he’s fast and very responsible and you notice him every shift. Had a really impressive partial breakaway chance snuffed by what looked to me like a penalty, that was all hustle.

Kulich hasn’t outright dominated, but he has been the most dangerous guy on the ice. His speed has flashed more than I’m used to and he’s had his chances.

Wahlberg looked kinda sluggish last night in his first game. Hope it was just shaking off the bug.

Novikov played to his rep. The Crunch were trying to get to the net, but the Amerks were holding up against it and Novikov was a big part.

Johnson was quietly very good. You don’t notice him outright, then you realize shift after shift goes by without any chances given up. He’s in the right spots and preventing.

Komorov was most noticeable to me for his awkward skating style. He competes.

Rosen always leaves me wanting more. He was better in games 2 and 3 after a rough game 1. He’s usually in the right places both ends and has very obvious skill. I just wish he completed more plays and engaged more.

Kozak is responsible fearless and he battles. Prototype checking centre at that level.

And if this seems overly positive, I just watched them play 8 periods in a row without allowing a goal. Their structure as a group was excellent.

Great take.  He plays with courage.  I can’t say the same of many Sabres players.

Great to see the Amerks progressing, especially the play of a Levi.

Syracuse Crunch.  Tampa Uni’s and colors, but a team name that has no relevance to anything.

I remember debating this with you day after draft last year... I did not like the pick.... to this point however, you seem like you were correct.... (I hope he translates, but to this point he would be one of the folks in Roch I am most excited about)  so I needed to call that out... that is all....LOL
