inkman Posted 13 hours ago Report Posted 13 hours ago I know radio stations are in the business of self promotion but their current level of self indulgence is obnoxious. Everywhere I turn it’s someone affiliated with the station hyping up Beane teeing off on them. Just weird. Quote

I watched a lot of pro wrestling as a kid and enjoy listening to people (insiders) talk about the business of pro wrestling as an adult. I especially enjoy the vernacular that has grown up around pro wrestling. With that context and in light of the observation you've made above, I'm now getting to wonder: Was Beane cussing out the WGR guys a "work?" Quote

Hollins and Cooper, and their 106 yards, are gone. No one thought Hollins was anything before last season. This year we have Josh Palmer and a healthy Curtis Samuel. And it's likely we will add one more free agent. Don't panic. Beane knows what he's doing. Quote

And with due respect, I still don't think he's any great shakes. He benefited from being in a fairly thin WR room (and the team not having a good option for "the X") and from having an All-Pro QB. If the guy weren't such a character (the walk-in outfits, the life hack videos on Instagram), his offseason departure would have been far less newsworthy than it was. 1 Quote
PASabreFan Posted 8 hours ago Report Posted 8 hours ago (edited) I loved Beane calling out the fantasy schmucks on WGR. Now he needs to tell Schopp to sign up for Gamblers Anonymous. Edited 8 hours ago by PASabreFan 1 1 Quote

There has been some intimation that gambling has been an issue for him and the openness which they discuss it still feels weird to this old codger. Quote

It's not a defense of Beane but his last 2 top picks prior to last week were Kincaid and Coleman. Those 2 and Samuel were all hurt for long stretches last year. They should all enter the summer healthy. Then he signs Palmer who does get separation and cuts on a dime. Shakir gets paid. I do think a lot of this noise is blowback for not picking Worthy last year. He has twice been accused of domestic violence, so I'm sensing a pattern in the character dept. When you lead the NFL in scoring, the issue is the D. We all saw what Philly did in the SB. They had 1 vet WR visit and I'm guessing more will be talked to. Beefing up the D was prudent. That Aud Smell Posted 5 hours ago Report Posted 5 hours ago I too am glad that I've avoided the gambling bug. I do the normal stuff -- March Madness brackets, Super Bowl squares, fantasy football -- but have always stayed away from the real sh1t. Somewhat ironically, I sort of enjoy the "degenerate gambling" banter on a podcast I regularly listen to. Maybe it's akin to getting a contact high from someone else's smoke. Quote

I’m glad Beane takes a macro approach to managing the roster. Instead of pigeon holing a receiver into an immediate large role, when rookie receivers are notoriously slow starters and quite frankly bust at a high rate. They are most likely much higher on Coleman than I am. I am also fairly optimistic about Palmer. We’ve seen average receivers flourish under Josh and good receivers flounder. A room starting with Shakir, Palmer and Coleman is promising but we’ll see if it comes to fruition. I don’t think any of the WR outside of Travis Hunter are going to blossom in the NFL. At least not anytime soon. Quote

Dude literally went and got a wr the same week he melted down about being asked about wr... weird. I like this signing. He's still young. He's cheap. Decent upside. 1 1 Quote

He'd already brought Moore in prior to the draft and they agreed they'd touch base again after the draft. So, Beane already knew he likely was adding Moore to the WR room. Still chalk it up to having to do an interview while being exhausted and hearing the discussion before he actually got on the air as rubbing him the wrong way. This is, what, his 8th year here, and ottomh this is the 1st time he's been accused of being defensive and dismissive in an interview. If it starts to happen consistently, will then possibly care about it. Quote
