This is the point the whining little children on WGR keep missing. KC was gonna get Worthy, anyway. It sucks the trade was with KC, but in the final analysis, it really doesn’t matter.

Maybe he is Tyreek, maybe he’s Mecole.  The Bills couldn’t afford to take a chance at a 165 lbs WR when they absolutely need at starter. There are still a half dozen guys they can plug in immediately.  They’ll get one if not two of them today.

He’s definitely not Tyreek, but that’s not saying he wont be good necessarily. Imo, he has boom or bust written all over him.

I listened for a sports update while driving my wife to work. What I heard from one of their morning people was a meltdown over KC getting Worthy.  Somehow, Bills were supposed to block it ?  That was his insane point.  Sounded like a grade school kid throwing a fit, void of logic.

Hmm..what if they are inquiring about Brandon Aiyuk of San Fran or Tee Higgins of Cinci ? That's bringing on another big contract ala Diggs. How could they work that ?

Beating the Bills in the playoffs and winning Super Bowls, that's what the Chiefs do.  Hard not to care about those. 😉

Has literally nothing to do with the conversation or what happened last night at all.

Lighten up kids; it was a joke.

(As was "kids" here, before anyone takes it personally.)

I’m thrilled. To gain all the assets and still get their guy would be great.  If they want ThaHonky at 33, I’m good. Cooper DeJean has McDermott written all over him though.

This made me unreasonably happy.

Right. The gripe that fans could have is that the Bills failed to properly assess Worthy -- they didn't value him enough -- they were wrong to pass on him. Which - fine. We'll see. For my part, I didn't like the risk.

I'm sorry, I just don't care what the Chiefs do.

Not at this time of year, nope.

Who cares about the fans?

I was venting after sitting through four hours of that overly-dragged-out spectacle, just to see him follow up trading with the perennial team-to-beat by not even giving us one shiny new thing to be happy about. Obviously, it shouldn't (and clearly didn't) actually factor into his decisions.  Still, somebody in the war room, even Beane himself, had to acknowledge that fans were really going to hate him after that (for the night, anyway.)

Now, we (fans) get to see what he does with it.  The results, which won't be seen for a while, are all that really matter.  In the moment, at 12-something in the morning, it was a hard pill to swallow.

KC values exceptionally talented players that Reid expertly can scheme to create mismatches.  The Bills crave blue chip culture guys that are hard workers.  Thus KC has 3 rings and we have yet to sniff a championship.  The NFL has razor thin margins and Reid is an expert at finding one play to win a game in a playoff scenario. We can try and make ourselves feel better that Worthy is not Tyreek but he doesnt have to be. Just decent enough top speed that he can move all over the field, not just deep routes.

No doubt Reid can scheme like nobody else, but KC’s track record with drafted WRs is a mixed bag at best. The only elite attribute Worthy possesses is speed and that certainly has to be respected, but he is not quick off the line of scrimmage, isn’t a good route runner, doesn’t have great hands, and his frame certainly leaves a lot to be desired and he’s gonna have issues with getting off press coverage as a result. He’s got boom or bust written all over him.

And KC was gonna draft him at 32, anyway. Glad we got a third round pick to possibly use as a chip to acquire another pick in the 2nd tonight.

I’ve seen this a couple times here (not sure if they’ve all been you).  But not sure why you would say that.  Even the chiefs didn’t believe that or they wouldn’t have traded up.
And it’s not like we just “got a 3rd”.  We gave up more than only the 28.

Hardman, Hollywood Brown, Worthy... good luck defenses.  That is some elite speed, not to mention the other layers of Reids offense with Kelsey and a good backfield.  I highly doubt he will have a down year on offense like last year with this group.  Worthy doesn't have to be Tyreek, just has to be better than Toney.

If I was a betting man I think he is the pick.  He fits McDermotts checklist and since Beane follows the draft rules to the "t", DeJean checks the boxes there as well.  It certainly is a need as well although I think he plays the FS position in the NFL.  Hopefully Beane can than move up, but it would be  travesty to field a mediocre WR corps with Allen in the height of his prime.

Ugh. I fear this to be true.

I suppose there is a chance SF would have taken him, but Worthy is not a Shanahan WR type so I doubt it. And it doesn’t matter about the other picks involved as the swapped 7ths are a wash and the 3rd we got for one of our 4ths is obviously better for us because Beane can use that to get a third pick in round two, which I fully expect him to do.

The position requires more than speed which we’ve seen too many times to count and all three of them are seriously lacking in those other traits, so I’ll need to actually see them become this unstoppable force before I’m willing to anoint them. I’m more worried about KC’s defense which was the key for them last season.

Exactly.  None of these are options.  Never was.  The Cap figures on all, coupled with Beanes comments in the presser last night (he does not want to part with his second round pick today) confirms it.  He said they have way more 2nd round evaluations than first.  So his goal was alwasy to get 3 picks in the top 90.  And he has his wish.  Dont watch enough college football to know if De Jean is any good, but if the scouting staff has him with an early 2nd round grade and it's a postion of need, cest la vie.  Make the pick.

I wouldn’t be that upset, but I’m thinking it’s gonna be Troy Franklin. Somebody over on the TBD site posted a bunch of advanced analytic stats and Franklin is elite in these areas. Up there with the top three in this draft. But Beane is hard to read at times, so who knows. I suspect he has a bunch of prospects with the same grade, so it wouldn’t surprise me if he trades down again.
