I-90 W
Don't see that penalty every day, closing the hand on the puck.
Thorny
Brutal cheap shot from a team of losers. Potentially changing the outcome of the playoffs. Or more. At the end of the day it wasn't a head high crosschwck, he put his stick up to protect himself. BS call to eject him! ???

I-90 W
Pretty sure he isn't faking. He has a concussion history. Â Guess McClavicle is officially the best player in hockey at present. I'm aware of his concussion history, also aware of his selling penalties history as well.
Taro T
Don't see that penalty every day, closing the hand on the puck. True. But when the refs are looking for a way to "even things up a bit" it gets called.

josie
Regardless of intent, that looked pretty nasty. Not a Crosby fan but I hope he's alright.

darksabre
I wonder if that injury was a twofer? His left leg bent back awful funny.
Norcal
Brutal cheap shot from a team of losers. Potentially changing the outcome of the playoffs. Or more. Â ??? Sid wasn't standing straight up he was falling into Niskanen. Niskanen reacted by putting his stick up. Would it have been better for Niskanen to let Crosby take out his knee instead? Â Would anyone let someone barrel into them without protecting themselves? NO Edited May 2, 2017 by Murray's Rats

NO Assaulting him in the head with a weapon does not equal "protecting themselves". You are out to lunch on his one.

I-90 W
Penalties left and right. This is a sloppy first period.
Thorny
I just don't see the intent to injure. It was a bang bang play. I'm sure that's why Niskanen didn't argue when the penalty was changed to a misconduct.
Buffalo Wings
I just don't see the intent to injure. It was a bang bang play.Agreed and that's exactly what Olczyk said...bang-bang play. I'd be ok with a 2-minute crosscheck minor on Niskanen, but that's not even a major...much less a game misconduct. Â Horrible call.
Marvelo
The Connor McDavid goal where he stopped on a dime showed Wayne Gretzky at the game jumping up waving his arms when he saw the goal. What a coincidence that those two played on the same team.
I-90 W
Assaulting him in the head with a weapon does not equal "protecting themselves". You are out to lunch on his one. Assault is a legal term, and legally he did not assault anyone. No intent also not known if there is an actual injury/ mark/ bruise on Crosby, also required for assault. Assault requires mens rea, not a strict liability crime (like manslaughter for example). Â A penalty yes, game misconduct is a stretch. Assault no. Claude Balls
Play by Niskanen was NOT a dirty play. The only intention was him trying to protect himself. That could've been any player in the league and the results would've been the same.
That Aud Smell
Really unfortunate hit on 87. Â Even in slo mo, it doesn't look intentional . The Caps player's eyes are fixed elsewhere, on the puck most likely. He was just reacting to Crosby hurtling into him. That said: Reckless, ugly play -- you have to be responsible for your stick, as they say. Â Also, if Crosby comes out fine in the next period -- I'll eat my hat. I-90 W
How is that not goaltender interference? Bush league.

I-90 W
What even is interference? It's vague but attacking player not allowing goalie to play his position.
