With most of the Star wars stuff, Marvel stuff too, I watch almost all the movies and I give every single series/show 2-3 episodes to decide whether I want to watch the whole thing or not.

Andor just wasn't for me. I watched the very first episode, It really did nothing for me. We gave it 2 more, after 3 episodes I gave up. Nothing, just didn't draw me in at all.  I guess it just shows why people have different tastes in entertainment.

Andor has a very interesting structure. They do 2-3 episode blocks and then the story goes off to a completely different place. So you missed the next stop. I really don’t remember what order things went in the first season. But with the second, the first few were pretty boring but then it’s balls to the wall the rest of the way.

I should say, it was episode 5 for me where it took off. 5 and 6 were excellent

Not sure how it started but I have been binge watching Notting Hill.

It's funny and goofy, but somehow endearing - ordinary bloke gets the popular girl and all she wanted all along was a normal life.

The East End London slang is top shelf and the supporting cast is fantastic.

It's just great.

Man, I'm pathetic.

In terms of taste in movies and shows, I think I might have you beat.

There are a couple exceptions, but when me and my wife watch a show or go to a movie... Especially movies.... frequently ones that are highly rated We just look at each other and say... Really? That was average at best if not bad.

Then there are a whole list of movies that have very poor ratings, definitely some of the worst rated movies.... or ones that do terrible at the box office, and we like them a lot.

Again, not 100% at a time, but it probably happens more often than it doesn't.

Aside from a few people who I know have similar tastes, I don’t care one bit about any critic or public reviews. The critics in particular I find to be some of the most pretentious a-holes out there.

At least with critics there’s still mind paid to actual film criticism

IMDb and anything user related is essentially a poisoned well when it comes to any film or show (see: anything Star Wars) thst even verges on whatever people are defining today as “woke”.

or even just the “lore” good god. Toe out of line and a segment of SW fans torpedo the score on mass lmao

But if you shoe horn in a deep fake Luke Skywalker kicking ass: masterpiece

I’ve been watching Grimm and enjoying it. It’s Buffy-esque and campy, but I still like it.

Plus, if you get into those early 2000’s series, a season is like 22 episodes. It’s going to be a while before I’ll have to find something else to watch.

-Happy Gilmore. It was entertaining, but thats it to me. Not bad, but not good. Just a decnent way to kill an evening with a few laughs.

-Fantastic Four. To me, good, but not great. I was really waiting to be surprised on some way, to have something that, I don't know...meant a lot to me in a way I didn't think (if that makes sense). It was executed pretty well, but one of the most predictable and least surprising movies I've seen in a while.  And the actress who played the lead roll, scale back on the fake eyelashes....they were so bad that everytime they showed a closeup of her, I couldn't stop seeing them instead of anything else in the movie.

-Superman. I though the plot of the movie was just OK, but there was one reason I really enjoyed it alot. They got the Superman character right. He's a nice guy, he wants to help everyone. No brooding superman, no doubting himself. no rolling his eyes. Just he's a superhero who cares for others and is a really nice guy and that is what I loved about it.

Had the same take on Superman - just a good dude.

Have you seen the first Happy Gilmore? It’s a childhood favourite, sort of reluctant to watch

A few times.

The new one has kinda the same 'vibe', just not as good. Not awful, just a step down imo from the original, a few too many cameos.
