Most times shut out in a season: 16 by the 2006-7 Columbus Blue Jackets. The Sabres are already 4 for 8, 1 shutout every 5.7 games and the record falls. I can easily see them being shut out 20+ times. 2. Worst Power Play Percentage: 9.35% by the 1997-98 Tampa Bay Lightning. So far: 0%, 0-26. 3. Fewest goals Per Game: The all time record of .8 per game is probably safe (1928 Black Hawks) but excluding the teams from the 1920s, the Lightning averaged 1.8 goals a game in '97-98. Right now, they could set the record for fewest regular time wins. The modern record is 8 (the expansion Crapitals). This could happen. That's the more likely outcome than getting the #1 pick even once. I forget the exact numbers, the last year it was roughly 25%, this year 20%. Which makes the odds of getting 1 #1 pick between the two ~45%, so less than 50/50. Goal scorers so far: Ennis 3 Foligno and Girgensons 2 each Mitchell, Hodgson and Deslauriers 1 each Stafford, Gionta, Moulson and Stewart are a combined 0 for 80 shooting (shots on goal) - that is amazing. If anything, I'd say we're due to score a whole lot more goals/game in the remaining 73 games just because we have so man guys waiting to break out (Moulson, Stafford, Stewart, etc.). First shots have to go up. Sabres average 23 shots a game, with a rough league wide shooting average of about 9.5 percent.... 23 shots per game X 82 games X .095 league shot percentage = 179 goals Currently Buffalo is shooting at 4.8 percent....so we need do double shooting percentage just to graduate from un-watchable to simply boring.
