Don't worry. Still two generational players. Eichel isn't Kessel. He might have similarities in one or two aspects of his game -- out of a hundred. It's kind of like when somebody says "you have your father's eyes." Does that make you your father? No.

These articles are from April, but they demonstrate how great Eichel can be.

If it weren't for a Toronto-bias a comparison to Kessel wouldn't bring such severe backlash. Eichel is a far more well-rounded prospect than Kessel ever was. Kessel might be the worst-case scenario for the kid. But they do score in similar ways - nice shot with the occasional flashy goal. Eichel just brings so much more to his game than that, though.

The comparison came from a bit of workplace talk from two guys who seem to be stuck in hockey of years ago, but I thought the comparison was justified from a scoring standpoint.

People just don't like comparisons. They here "compare" and assume it's all-encompassing. You can't compare a guy without the assumption that it's meant to say that Player A is a mirror image of Player B.

(I will say that if Eichel became Kessel it would be a severe disappointment as Eichel is supposed to be a centerpiece type versus a huge contributor. Kessel would be a great player on a team that had true leaders ahead of him. Eichel is the one who knocks.)

you should have punched the guy who compared him to Kessle right in the face. Eichel is a work out machine On the latest round of strength testing, he front-squatted 320 pounds, cleaned 335 pounds, had a close-grip bench press of 250 pounds, a pull-up max of 25 reps, and body fat percentage of 6.3 percent.

Kessle spends his down time playing vids with his boy Bozak while munching Boston Cream Donuts. Who knows how good Kessle would be if he had the same drive-to-be-great that Eichel does?

Thanks for reading. ;)

Listen people: the comparison sucks. We all get it. There is a small aspect in his total game that compares. It happens to be the good part of Kessel. The end.

Matthew Barzal

"Forward Mathew Barzal of the Seattle Thunderbirds is our top WHL prospect for the 2015 draft in the early going as he is a proven dangerous and creative offensive player. He had a very productive offensive season as a WHL rookie last year and is built off that early this season. His blend of elite level quickness, impressive vision and puck skills aid him in being a difference maker."

Actually, the key metric is how many pull-ups can he do. Nothing else matters.

With a goal, assist and a fight tonight, McDavid completes his first and last Gordie Howe Hat Trick.

McDavid is meeting with a hand specialist tomorrow to undergo further tests. Extent of injury unknown but most are saying a fracture of some kind could be anywhere from 4weeks to a couple months.

I hear Jack Eichel punches trees in his spare time to strengthen his hands.
