  1. He's got 107 points in 70 games over his last two seasons in NCAA. At the NHL equivalency exchange rate of 0.41, that's 50 points on an 82 game season. He's roughly balanced in goals/assists, so he could play top six minutes and put up 21+ goals. For the record, NHLe for EIchel was 60 points, he put up 56. NHLe for Reinhart was 37 points, he put up 42.
  2. Without listening to the interview, that's pretty interesting. I wonder if our analytics kids have tried to weight the shot counts used in Corsi with values like the shooter's shooting percentage or some metric of quality of shot based on where the shot was taken. That could help Corsi-based stats account for quality of player or quality of scoring chance, and reward teams that, for instance, allow lots of shots but only from the outside or from scrubs.
  3. And then their video feed of the stage one landing froze as soon as it approached. Hilarious.

  5. Well, named after the Strip, the Las Vegas Strippers came to mind.
  6. Yeah, that's asking to poach the nickname "Hawks," which will never be pried from Chicago. Nighthawks? Blackhawks? Nah.

  8. Thanks. Yeah, that was a rough ride. Graduating into a stagnant research job market, having a hockey buddy get me a job to make ends meet, later getting laid off from that job, unemployed for a while, then getting hired by one of the most well-respected aerospace companies with which I have ignited a damn good career. The whole experience, as it ended well, was both objectively insane and humbling. True story. Just put a fluorescent bulb in a microwave oven. Don't do that.

  12. Pro tip: add up numbers from other jerseys to cover the gaps.

Adamantium's cheap right now and I already grew the chops." ====================================================== TP: "Oh, for the love of- will you just shave that already? You look ridiculous." ====================================================== GMTM: "No, I don't care how much gas is down there, you're not drilling my back yard." 15. Looks Star Trekky. This is the current Sabres wordmark, is it not? Could be a good starting point if you're looking for ideas.
  16. I'm not entirely meh, and certainly not for the reason you stated. But how is Okposo away from Tavares?
  17. Love it.
  18. Darren Dreger ‏@DarrenDreger 16s16 seconds ago Okposo signs with Buffalo. 7 years, $6 mil aav.
  19. Keep Gorges on as a depnedable 6/7 defenseman. Takes the pressure off the others if somebody needs press box time as a teaching tool. Still allows for optional callups if/when our regulars get injured.
  20. I have questions. And if it's not ok to ask these or you're not comfortable answering, no big deal at all, let them slide. I have zero knowledge of eye injuries. A) Is that something that heals to 100% durability or does it always remain with a higher-than-previous chance of reoccuring (perhaps with accidental contact to the eye or vigorous impacts to head or body)? B) Is it something that heals to 100% visual acuity or is there a permanent effect on acuity? C) If there is a long term affect on eyesight, is it generally correctable with eyewear/contacts?
  21. John Scott is on the TSN broadcast for Free Agency day. I, for one, welcome our new media overlord. https://t.co/71Cft7jEry Seriously, though, I hope he has a great time and sparks a potential career, if that's what he's interested in doing.
