Statistically, he's only worth $3.5-4.0. Why would he sign a long term deal at that price? A bridge makes more sense from his perspective, eg if he believes he'll be worth much more in 2-3 years. However, the Sabres might want a bit longer deal 5-6 yr, at $4.5 tops. He's not a $5m player yet, and who knows if he ever will be.
-
Well, I'm glad to hear that. He's worth every penny. Does he take the bait?
-
Wow, the horse is really starting to fly.

They'll be RFAs, it's not like they can dictate the terms and we can always match an offer if it comes to that, but that doesnt happen much these days because the cost is too high. Bridge deals are good from a players perspective if they feel they are still developing, so they can cash in a richer contract when the bridge expires in 2-3 years.

I see so many comments on here about how paying Sam and Jack will be an issue in two years if we sign our lord and savior Steven Stamkos. I can see a significant deal for Jack, but a bridge deal for Samson makes sense unless he absolutely explodes offensively. Jack might even accept a bridge deal if the team is a contender.

It will be interesting to see what type of contract he ends up with. He wasn't drafted by GMTM so we really don't know if he fits in his long term plan. He's not a fast skater, which hurts him in this system, that's one area he needs to improve is his explosiveness and top end speed.
-
...imagine if Stamkos and Vesey both end up in TOR.

IMO BUF will eventually become a desired FA destination, but they need to start winning. They're close, certainly closer than they were a few years ago.
-
what about this guy? haha Howard Berger @Berger_BYTES A "birdie" whispered to me that Steven Stamkos is looking primarily at the #Leafs and #BuffaloSabres, were he to leave Tampa. Hmmm.
-
yeah! Glad to hear he's atleast giving BUF a chance to make a presentation and talk numbers. Although, technically they're not allowed to talk numbers yet, not sure how the league can police that.
-
Haha, well Kessel already looks worse than that guy and he just won a Cup so....

Evander Kane : Two crime reports filed in nightclub incident

I blame cocaine for all his problems. I know some guys like him. They act like fine standup citizens until the chili powder hits their nasal cavity. Some guys handle it and have good time, others turn into somebody you dont even recognize and dont know when to stop. Its a known problem in the NHL, and its not going away until the penalties for teating positive become more harsh. -
I think Rodrigues makes the team out of camp. Nelson seems a bit too high to me. He's likely destined to spend the season in Roch.
-
There's just no room in the system for that many goalie prospects. You can only have 50 players under contract at a time.

Yes his career is over. What went wrong? In my professional opinion, his problem was quite simple. He just needed to stop sucking, and he couldn't do that.
-
Or they just want their employees to show up to practice on time.
-
Barrie likely headed for arbitration. Still a chance he gets too much for them to handle and they trade him to BUF! Let it be. I too like Foligno. Think there is still plenty of upside in his development. $2.5m is fair.

The closer we get to judgement day, the less confident I feel about signing our lord and savior Steven Stamkos.
-
Am I ovethinking this? Yeah, you're probably right. It's just a strange circumstance, and one that I don't think is anywhere near being settled, even if we do end up signing him.
-
Likely just the minimum, which is a 1 year offer at 105-110% previous contract. All this does is assure that Buffalo retains their rights throughout the negotiating process. I believe Foligno is the only one that qualifies for arbitration.
-
So who do we think signs their initial tender? Nelson, Kasdorf, and Catenacci?
-
Nice, let that tire fire keep burning in Boston.

no Mogilny or Andreychuck? OK
