I took a 1 unit self-imposed penalty (half of what I wagered on that game) for placing my bet late, how is that being a douche? In the real world, bets are not allowed after the game starts, let's be clear on the rules here... any bets placed after puck drop are invalid (and lighthearted jokes about such bets are not allowed).

This hockey season just plain sucks.

hahaha It really challenges you as a fan of the team to continue to watch... it certainly feels like a chore at times. This team is just so mentally weak and fragile, whether or not that's a lingering symptom of the tank years or lack of leadership, I don't know. Gionta and Gorges are the only players on the roster who have decent playoff experience. I'd expect those two to be more vocal during games, holding guys accountable, etc... but I don't see it, which is disappointing. It's almost as if they've just given up on these guys with the realization this is likely their last season with the club.

I can't help but think what things would be like if we have Ekblad and McDavid instead of Reinhart and Eichel. Not something I dwell on, but considering there are infinite parallel universes, in at least one of those universes the Sabres have Ekblad and McDavid... I want to know how that team is doing.

Did anybody here attend the first Winter Classic in Buffalo? I'm considering making plans to attend the WJC outdoor game, but would like to know what the experience was like, thanks.

Lehner isn't the problem. The defense is marginally better than the last few years. Unfortunately, without Eichel and O'Reilly, the offense isn't any better than the tank years. Guys like Fasching, Nylander, Bailey, Baptiste, Guhle still need to develop. In the meantime we're stuck with what we have. It is what it is. They're at best a borderline playoff team when fully healthy.

I agree with this. The lack of production from the back-end is alarming. I like what I've seen from Risto over the last 5 games, he's getting better which is what we want to see. Franson and Gorges are holding this group back in a big way. I've said it before and I'll say it again, this team won't sniff the playoffs until Franson and Gorges are purged from the roster... replaced with better skaters who can keep up with the pace of the modern game.

A big reason they have trouble filling Gila River is that it's way out in Glendale... at rush hour that's a 60-90min drive from Scottsdale which where the majority of the hockey fan base is located in the Phoenix area. I've experienced this nasty drive first hand when visiting the area. It's like if the Sabres played in Rochester.

I really feel for the guy. You could sense the excitement in his voice when he talked about the upcoming season after what he went through last year. It's a shame he has to miss so much more time.

I don't like the attitude of this team. They sound defeated in their interviews... "hold the fort down" etc... while guys are out with injury is not the right mind set. They need to focus on winning games with no excuses. You see it every game, as soon as something doesn't go their way, instead of righting the ship, they have a built in excuse... "jack is out, ryan is out, etc.. etc.." and they have very little fight in those situations. I put that on Bylsma and lack of leadership. Gionta is doing the best he can, but he's not a guy the rest of the team can rally around and follow into battle. He's an overaged finesse player, not a Dougie Gilmour relentless work ethic guy who can set the tone.

Half the team was in New Jersey.

This team looks completely lost with Kane in the lineup.

I miss the raw emotion of fighting back in the day. Guys legit hated and tried to hurt eachother. None of this pat on the back after a fight garbage. The Sabres could've used a fight in the third tonight to energize the fans.
