Can J-BOT pull off the impossible and move both Moulson and Bogo off the books? Doubt it, but it would be an absolutely dream scenario. Just getting one of them off the books would be huge. Don't know enough about BowlU to comment, but he's a career +19 so I'll tentatively pencil him into the top pairing.

Miller put up some excellent numbers his final two seasons at MSU, some of the best college hockey has ever seen: GAA: 1.23 / 1.77 SV%: 0.950 / 0.936 Let's compare that Petersen: GAA: 2.20 / 2.21 SV%: 0.927 / 0.926 You want to compare someone to Miller? Try Connor Hellebuyck. His final two years at UMass-Lowell: GAA: 1.37 / 1.79 SV%: 0.952 / 0.941 Petersen just isn't at that same level IMO.... a comparable would be Matt Hackett who put up almost identical numbers in his final year in juniors.

No. Ullmark is a much better goalie. Petersen is not NHL ready, nor do I think he ever will be.

Doesn't matter, it's all cyclical. Strike while the iron is hot, I say. Look at PIT. Their all-world defenseman missed the entire post-season, and still, they reached the top of the mountain with cast-offs like Shultz, Daley, Cole, Streit, Hainsey, Ruhwedel, etc... In BUF's case, they just need 1 or 2 quality bottom pairing guys to replace Gorges and Franson... they don't need top 10 picks.

Just because they didn't mention Reinhart by name, doesn't mean they're actively shopping him. You're reading too much into it.. .Reinhart isn't going anywhere... unless they decided he's overrated and move him for defensive help

It's cyclical. Teams are gonna start reaching for defensemen because of this, and soon teams will be stocked with defensive depth, but no depth offensively. The smart GM takes advantage of this and scoops up quality fowards as they slide draft down draft lists.... to be used as valuable currency down the road.

Yeah, I think you're talking about the tweet that JBOT reached out to him. I think Petersen could be a good AHL goalie, but I just don't see anything about his game that would foresee him as an NHL starter.

So it's Housley. I'm concerned about his lack of experience as a rookie head coach. Maybe the hockey will be more fun to watch, which would be nice... but might take some time for him to settle in and get comfortable with such a huge leadership responsibility.

I like Lehner, but if they let him go to Vegas, then so be it, not the end of the world... as long as there's a plan in place which doesn't include Cal Petersen in a Sabres sweater.

Let me put it this way.... he was a mid round pick, below average size for an NHL goaltender, very mediocre stats in the USHL, no world juniors appearances, stats are decent for a mid-upper tier college goalie. What makes you believe he'll be an exception and become a regular starter in the NHL when all the evidence suggests otherwise? Never said Matthews would suck in the NHL, but go ahead and keep putting words in my mouth.

It flies in the face of everything you're taught as a player.... you play for what's on the front* of the jersey, not what's on the back.... * - or above the number on the front of the jersey if playing an outdoor world junior game in Buffalo
