I know you’re just spitballing, but I don’t think so. I believe the max positions a lottery winner could jump is ten. So it would have to be a catastrophic season collapse to be eligible for pick four or five through a lottery win. Current odds of the Sabres picking 15th are 98%.

I heard Houser trains with Schenn in the off-season (they’re from the same area). In order to consider waiving is modified no trade, he asked the Sabres to ink his buddy to a deal. No I didn’t.

If Subban has a long term injury, then maybe this makes sense. But there’s already four NHL contracts ahead of him. So it’s kinda weird. I guess I’ll have to be patient, but making up the rationale is a lot more fun.
