Bring me NOAH Warren in the 2nd round. Won’t have the offence of some of the others RHD but he Is a unicorn with the size, physicality and skating. He is the type of guy that in 4 years when he has played a couple playoff series other teams will be talking about how they can find a NOAH Warren.

Campbell and Comrie Desmith and Comrie would be interesting goalie upgrades.

I want the better player who is Mikheyev. We should be looking to ice the best team and shoot for the playoffs then nickel and diming for “value”

The college players come to prospects camp but they don’t come to training camp. I don’t know what the new rules entail but they used to be able to come if they weren’t getting paid. Same with the European prospects whose seasons are starting around training camp time so they only come in the summer.

Be interesting to see if Portillo or Johnson are there. Should be an interesting one with all the new additions from the draft and getting to see guys from the past couple drafts for the first time.

He made $1.65 this year. I would offer him $2.75-3 on a 3 year deal. He is 27 years old. He is 6’3 and has an elite trait: skating. He can play wing anywhere in the bottom 9 and be an elite PK guy and with more opportunity can improve on 21 goals. He is better then Vinny. Him and Cozens would be demons with their size, skating and forecheck. I wouldn’t hand JJP and Quinn jobs. Make them earn them. Guys will be injured too.

You forgot a big one too: he played with Josh Bloom so the Sabres has a lot of eyes on him this year.

Calling my shot. One under the radar name I’m going to say the Sabres will show interest in is Ilya Mikheyev from the Leafs. 6’2, elite speed, scored 21 goals, 4 short handed. He was a big difference maker, especially on the PK. He is looking for more opportunity that the Leafs can’t offer and they can’t afford to sign him. He wouldn’t break the bank but he would impress. Can play up and down the lineup. Plays hard and would bring a Russian into the fold at the NHL level to help transition some of the Russian kids.

LOL Friedman said on his podcast with Marek that the arbitrator still hasn’t Ruled on the Evander Kane-SJ wrongful termination case and that there is a strong chance that SJ will have to take Kane back at his old salary. What a mess.

With the Nightengale coaching the U.S. team connection I just come back to Gauthier,Nazar, McGroaty, Snuggerud, Chelsey all being in play. Also with that connection the fact they didn’t interview Casey is interesting too.

McGroarty seems to have “Process” written all over him. He is working with one of the best skating coaches in the world to improve his skating mechanics. I wouldn’t be surprised if he is very high on Sabres board.

I hope they move him up to the Sabres. He would be a huge help with the centres, faceoffs and the PK.

I put Cozens as untouchable. Heart and soul leader. Dubois and Cozens had tremendous chemistry at the Worlds. I would aquire Dubois to play with Cozens on a playoff warrior line. I don’t see it as likely but if it was Dubois with a worked out extension for #9, Mitts, Johnson I would do it and I like Mitts a lot.

I don’t know if the the not starting negotiations with Dubois and restocking the prospect line were connected or separate points as he said them one after the other. Dubois wanted out of Columbus because of Torts. They traded him for Laine in a move of young guys needing a new start. Most players aren’t fans of living in Winnipeg and the dressing room is a mess. It was reported the other day that Scheifele might be staying and he is thought of as the ringleader of that room. I don’t know if Dubois told him he won’t sign there long term. There is a lot of turmoil there. I just think he would fit here as a power centre who has great chemistry with Cozens and would like playing for Granato and the culture here. But who knows.

Jets GM says they haven’t started talks with Dubois and want to restock their prospects pool. Would you trade #9 as part of a package for Dubois? The pick would be a main piece if the deal. I could see the Jets wanting Manitoba boy Geekie if he is there at 9. Winnipeg have trouble keeping players that want to stay there. Getting a young home grown star would be big. Dubois and Cozens give you a dominating playoff line for the next decade. What if Adams goes massive and tries to land Dubois and Hellebuyck? Probably not going to happen but nothing at 9 enthuses me as much as adding a stud like Dubois.

Can we get back to discussing goaltenders. Gibson, Hellebuyck, Kuemper, Husso, Campbell, DeSmith, Comrie etc. Who you want, what are you willing to pay?
