This team is in no position to do another speculative high risk/high reward coaching hire. They need someone who is a solid professional with a lengthy track record of getting results. There is a guy who would essentially be manna from heaven clearly interested in the job but the worst owner in modern hockey history will have none of it (which is why he is the worst owner in modern hockey history).

The Sabres are the only team to my knowledge who were given the OK to let in fans and only did so for select dates. The first game letting in fans drew just over 300 people. If you don't think the STH base is going to implode then you are just ignoring reality. This is the worst organization in the modern history of the sport and it's only going to get worse until the Pegulas are no longer owners because not only haven't they learned from their mistakes they feel like they haven't done anything wrong.

Worrying about failing in the playoffs is a problem I would kill to have.

If Boudreau wants the job and the team passes on him it's a staggering act of malfeasance. A guy with a long track record of success in multiple places who would bring instant credibility to an organization sorely in need of it. You hire him and I'll throw down a marker that both Jack and Sam see this means that the Sabres have decided to become an actual NHL outfit instead of the joke they are now and decide to stay.

I think it's pretty obvious (and quite frankly very transparent and cynical) they are pushing that narrative so that fans view Jack and Sam as the heels when those trades happen.

I can't wait to hear the excuses when this team starts 3-15-3 next season. You can take the romance of growing with Donnie for the next 5 seasons when we finally reach the dizzying heights of just missing out on the playoffs, I'll take competing for a playoff spot with Boudreau next season.

He doesn't want out because he's Pajama Boy v2.0, he wants out because he realizes that staying here would be wasting his entire career as unless there is a monumental organizational course correction this will be the armpit of pro hockey until the day the Pegulas are no longer owners.

It's as if they did something Terry Stupid refuses to do and got just about the best coach on the market and are reaping the rewards. But don't you worry: We are going to give the job to a guy for winning a stunning one third of his games which proves he's the guy and isn't going to be complete fool's gold like the last guys (also the fact he'll be the lowest paid coach in the league has nothing to do with it. Nope. Not at all.). Panthers: NHL organization Sabres: Not an NHL organization.

Once again: How do you get rid of a losing culture by being OK with losing and throwing away seasons (In a league all but rigged so that just about any team can compete for a playoff spot)? That mentality needs to die and this organization needs to start having standards that need to be met like every other team in the league does.

With this current roster minus Jack and Sam they are far more likely to finish with 55-60 point than 80. Even with Dahlin it's the most putrid roster in the league by miles.

People simultaneously ranting about needing to change the losing culture while calling for getting rid of the few NHL players we have so that we have a roster that's lucky to win 15 games and gets killed on a nightly basis is itself quite a disconnect.

I have learned the situation with Sam stems from an altercation with Tage a few weeks back:

If he did he'd resign and tell Pegula to hire an actual qualified and proven GM.

Because the guy coached multiple teams for years and almost never missed the playoffs, something this fetid tub of dogshit organization hasn't even done once in a decade. He's as close to a Barry Trotz (remember how he got tagged as a "playoff loser" for years until he wasn't?) as we are going to get.
