  1. Jeff didn’t help his chances of getting moved up by failing to pass to Jack. Wide open.
  2. Not sure if this was posted elsewhere but you have to appreciate ‘Torts’ honesty about the situation in Columbus. He’s also not helping his GM. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.sportsnet.ca/nhl/wants-blue-jackets-tortorella-addresses-dubois-trade-request/sn-amp/ Tortorella’s comments are about half way.
  3. Right band, wrong song. 'When the Levee Breaks'. It has the connotation of a Goaltender breaking down, which would lead to a 'flood' of goals - metaphorically speaking. Psychological gamesmanship. That, and the bassline and drums kind of kick ass.
  4. The reclamation of the Concept of Jeff Skinner?
  5. But Risto played opening night in 2013 as well, even though drafted a year later. He also has more games under his belt with the club than Z. Do you go back to time within the organization if you tie on date started?
  6. Jason Botterill, the Matt Ellis of AGM’s.
  7. Is this a thing? I’ve seen numerous teams play an extra D but not one less. What is the inherent reward versus the risk of losing one to injury and you’re forced to play with only 4 the remainder of the game?
  8. I heard this will be on the Corleone family’s land. Not too far from where Fredo was shot.
  9. sung to the tune from Smokey and the Bandit.... East playoffs bound, loaded up and Puckin' A-we gonna do what they say can't be done We've got a long way to go, and a short time to get there I'm playoff bound, just watch ol' "Adams" run Keep the biscuit in the basket Son, never mind just skate Let it all hang out 'cause we got a run to make The boys are hungry in Buf-a lo And Lazar is replacin’ the L in GLO And we'll bring back a Cup no matter what it takes
  10. The Sabres will need all 210 if Hutts is still minding net in 2021.
  11. Do better Sweet Lou! Your trades suggestions are epic. Get creative.
  12. I was fascinated as well until I read 2015. I envision this is the pitch to Monty.....errrrrrr Terry.
  13. Bravo on Gif selection. Appropriate, and inappropriate all at the same time.
  14. One of the greats. His role as Jim Malone in The Untouchables was brilliant. “You wanna know how to get Capone? They pull a knife, you pull a gun. He sends one of yours to the hospital, you send one of his to the morgue. That's the Chicago way! And that's how you get Capone.” Rest in Peace.
  15. I was tempted to play possum, and comment on number six. That we haven’t acquired a LD, just a 5th RD in Irwin, but you don’t deserve that. But if I did......I can only imagine the reply.
  16. As stated above by others, Rob and Marty are free to editorialize, however rarely do they question decisions of Management and certainly not that of ownership. Example - In hindsight or maybe even foresight Mitts should’ve been sent down to Rochester long before he was. You never heard Rob or Marty critique JB for keeping him in the line up. Perhaps just critical of certain plays on the ice during the game or at intermission. What I’m getting at is that if the Sabres cannot acquire a new goaltender it might be awkward behind the scenes if Marty comes out and says the Sabres need an improvement in goal, verses giving his full support of the player. If the Sabres are fortunate enough to trade, let’s see how quickly he pivots to support that of the acquired player. If he doesn’t and says the move was superfluous and unnecessary (b/c Hutts can handle the load) then I’ll believe how you have positioned your contrarian view. I don’t think that is being cynical.
  17. I trust Marty too, but as he is tied to Sabres financially, his take on players within the organization must be questioned. Is it a true analysis or towing the party line? A hint of taint.
  18. Agree with fact they are not protecting Z. Why would Eakin be protected? With seven forwards to protect its both Tage and Mitts and possibly someone else at the trade deadline, if GMs are looking to move players before the season ends. Also note Borgen May/may not require protection based on games played this season.
  19. His trade value is extremely low. Not just for the reason mentioned, but more so for the current market conditions. There are so many teams that will be forced to reduce cap, and so few teams to take that cap space on, that the value of the player moved between now and January 1st will far exceed the return. Aka, a buyers market. Perhaps his contract is more than you might want in a FL#3 LW role, but the Sabres desperately need more scoring in the middle six and on the Power Play. They were still only middle of the pack in the PP last year. They should be looking at the additions of Hall and Staal as an opportunity to move into the top 5, rather than treading water by losing a valuable asset on special teams. I hope they keep the current trend and sign VO to a one year deal. A prove it deal with flexibility for both sides.
  20. The Sabres cannot 'walk away' from the arbitration for Ullmark. The CBA has a threshold when a team can walk away. I believe that number is 4,538,958 this year. I can't see Linus getting this amount. Maybe his settlement is more than we want, but once we tender that QO we are bound. They could also choose to make it good for just one year instead of two.
