  1. Adams is already 5 chapters in to Dr. Leo Marvins book. It’s called ‘Baby Steps’.
  2. Good stuff. Thank you for sharing. The corollary to the rule about UFA's is to make sure the few that you do select can contribute, especially come the Playoffs. If you assume 16% then that is ~ 4 players on the team. I would argue that David Perron, Tyler Bozak and Pat Maroon were essential to the St. Louis Blues Cup run. Where as our stable of UFA's Caggiula, Vinnie, Anderson and Eakin are not in the same class. It's essential for Adams to add a player or two next season that can and will contribute the the overall success of the team.
  3. Love either of the cap casualties suggested. We could offer a ton in lower AAV value for either. No chance they move Whitecloud. He must have been asked for in the trade itself no? Why not Martinez for Miller and 50% retained? Martinez checks all the boxes for a younger D partner. Then in the offseason - overpay for Manson, and you have: Dahlin/Martinez Power/Manson Muel/Joki Pskyk and Bryson are 7/8
  4. Interesting comment about Levi. Specifically he thinks he will sign and play this season. One thing for a forum like us to speculate on that and another for a head coach to say it.
  5. FU Robin! Way to go Tuch!
  6. Wait Fitzgerald didn’t want to fight Max? Doubt Emily had that right.
  7. Don’t give this Delta Bravo a shut out. Play hard.
  8. They look like the Washington Generals.
  9. To the tune of Rawhide- Trollin’ Trollin Trollin Keep this thread a Goin’ Trollin’ Trollin Trollin His name is Pi
  10. Not instantly at all. I watched the Avs broadcast and they called it a hand pass during the replay review. I watched it from all angles after the game in slow mo and nothing was obvious.
  11. Rule 618 | Handling Puck with Hands (a) Play shall be stopped and a last play face-off shall occur anytime a player (except the goalkeeper) closes his hand on the puck and does not immediately drop the puck to the ice. A minor penalty for delay of game shall be assessed to any player, other than the goalkeeper, who picks the puck up from the ice with his hand(s) while play is in progress. A penalty shot/optional minor penalty shall be awarded to the non-offending team anytime a defending player, other than the goalkeeper, picks the puck up off the ice with his hand or holds the puck while play is in progress and the puck is in the goal crease. If this infraction occurs while the goalkeeper has been removed from the ice and prevents and obvious and imminent goal, a goal shall be awarded to the non-offending team. (Note) For the purpose of this rule, the goal crease shall extend from the ice to the top of the crossbar of the goal frame. (b) A player or goalkeeper shall not be allowed to “bat” the puck in the air, or push it along the ice with his hand, directly to a teammate unless the “hand pass” has been initiated and completed in his defending zone, in which case play shall be allowed to continue. If the “hand pass” occurs in the neutral or attacking zone, a stoppage of play will occur and a face-off will take place according to last play face-off rules provided no territorial advantage has been gained. he literally batted the puck, in the air in the offensive zone. How is it NOT a hand pass?
  12. Colorado is -$600 ML on Caesars sports-book. A lot of chalk. Not sure I’ve seen a line this big in a while. Deserved? Injuries, back to back, road game, COVID, etc. Lowered expectations for tonight, but I’m watching. McNab Wellhead (homage to former 6th round pick Peter doing Color for the Avs)
  13. There was one point in the second period where the first unit PP had offensive Zone time for almost the entire two minutes. The unit was comprised of Skinner, Krebs, Tuch, Joki and KO, with Kyle as the only first unit guy from the beginning of the year. And they dominated. Yeah it was the Coyotes, but it was without Tage, Rasmus, Casey, or Tage. This gives me encouragement. The Zona broadcast team were obviously aware of Tuchs immediate contribution with respect to the trade, but we’re seemingly surprised about Krebs play. Perhaps they had seen him once before in LV or perhaps first time (unclear) but they were both extremely complimentary of Krebs game. Subtle allusions to the fact the national narrative of the Sabres losing the trade should not be written in stone.
  14. Sabres described as “scrappy” by the Zona broadcast team.
  15. Mistake playing Bryson with Joki and on first line. Butcher on the wing? Can’t be much worse than what we’ve seen on D.
  16. @klos1963 Nice job representing SS. I considered driving across the desert this morning, but their performance this year does not warrant a 10 hour round trip. Enjoy. @Taro T slight disagreement on goal only because there is no chance they beat the Avs tomorrow. Not unless Dom was reincarnated. Go for the win tonight. Does Muel see first line minutes? He must right? Macabre Winter.
  17. From Puckpedia - 50% max, per team but also two teams can retain that contract. When teams trade a player, they can retain, or keep, some of the players' salary and cap hit. The team keeps a % of both the cap hit and salary for the remainder of the contract. Therefore, if a Player with a Salary of $2.0M and a Cap Hit/AAV of $3.0M is traded with 20% retention, the trading team would continue to pay 20% of the $2.0M Salary and would continue to have a cap hit of 20% of the $3.0M Cap Hit. The maximum retention % is 50%. Teams can only carry a maximum of 3 Retained Salaries at a time. An individual contract can only have a maximum of 2 teams retaining salary on it. The maximum amount of retained salary by a team is 15% of the Salary Cap for the current year. If a team retains salary on a traded player and that player is later sent to the minors, there is no change to the cap hit for the retaining team. If a team retains salary on a trade, they cannot reacquire that player for one year from the date of the transaction, unless the contract ends prior to one year.
  18. Sabres fans response to Player Safety on the suspension is that of Don Corleone in his meeting with Sollozzo. “Why do I deserve this… generosity?”
  19. Sam Carrick gets a nice shot on Nick. This whole thing started when Foligno intimidated or attempted to intimidate Drysdale. At the next commercial break Gibson gave Nick a waffle to the mouth followed by Getz getting engaged. Anaheim has an edge to them. I had to ask myself how did the Bruins sign Rask for $1m annually. Then I checked out his 4 starts. Not good. A sv% of .857 and GAA of 3.87. Before tonight. Both will get worse after a 5-3 loss.
  20. Question. If KO, Zemgus and VO are all on the roster next year what is Krebs path to top 9? Same with JJ? I see JJP starting in Roch until he forces himself or Z and/or KO are gone.
  21. As I try and forget what happened yesterday (edibles just didn't get it done - only helped me sleep until 3am then I woke up in a non-Covid sweat), I am appreciative for both the content and entertainment this board provides. I mean, perreault taking on Weave and lgr like Peters looking to fight any Ottawa Senator in 2007. Skinner - Tage - Tuch (proven chemistry - Skinner needs one grinder - has two) Asplund- Mitts - Quinn (some defensive responsibility w/Asplund; Quinn needs a top 6 role as that's where he will be next year) Olofsson- Cozens - Okposo (Like Cozens and Kyle as tandem; Victor for some O-fence if he can ever regain his shot) Girgenson- Krebs - Jankowski (could switch Krebs to RW but prefer to see him try out for Centre) Murray back to AHL, trade Vinnie, waive Eakin and send him to Rochester, Hayden and Bjork in the press box Dahlin - Pysyk Joki - Muel Bryson (replaced by Power ASAP) - Hagg trade Miller, attempt to trade Butcher, Anderson UPL
  22. Don’t stop there. Go Full Monty. …He starts in 7 of the Sabres last 10 games winning 6, burning his first year eligibility. His performance gives pause to Adam’s thoughts on UFA and goes a third year without acquiring a legitimate starting goaltender; however this time it pays dividends when Levi comes to the ‘22 training camp and wins the starting position over UPL in an unforeseen campaign to win the 2023 Vezina award.
