  1. I thought the same, but I've pivoted on this view. In aggregate, we are talking maybe 10k vaccines for the NHL & NBA (Players and local staff). Assuming vaccinations can somehow reduce the disruptions to the schedule and prevent some players from spreading the virus this can positively affect the mental health of millions of fans like us that probably will not be vaccinated for months. I'm doing my part by staying at home, but my mental health is better served if I can watch these guys play while I'm stuck inside. If the US can deliver 1 million units per day, then the compromised would be delayed at most 1 day to have this subsection of the population jump the line. A small price to pay. Secondarily, I've read a number of stories here in California where staff at health care facilities and hospitals who were eligible to be vaccinated were rejecting the opportunity at a rate of 30-50%. Some may have valid reasons for not complying, but if having a guy like Lebron James vaccinated (on tv, for all to see) might convince them otherwise, and positively affect the roll out, then I'm all for letting him and others get vaccinated ASAP. Did not see @GAsabrefan post
  2. I would never wish anyone gets it, just if they did.... apologies for random thought.
  3. Is it wrong for me to hope that if any Sabre does test positive, it's Hutton, Irwin, Okposo, Montour, Mitts and Eakin in some particular order? If the head coach will not willingly replace these players in the lineup maybe we need divine intervention. Jeff Jack Sam Hall Staal Cozens Rieder Lazar Sheahan VO Dea Quinn McCabe/Risto Dahlin/Miller Borgen/Joki
  4. This is so true. Same for KO. I thought player tracking was something Krueger was looking into this season.
  5. You’re not giving on Kylington. I appreciate your principles. Hutts stock is low, especially after his most recent showing this morning. Like GameStop low, circa 2019. I would do that trade in a New York minute. Problem is all three of those assets for the Sabres are cap dumps. No value in any of them. I honestly don’t think any team in their right mind takes Montour, even with the retention. He’s really bad.
  6. Agree Eakin is not worthy of the money or any minutes exceeding Lazar at Center. Lazar should move onto the third line. Without KO. Find a substitute there. With respect to the bold, Jack is second in the entire NHL to Nate McKinnon in shots taken. I think the issue is shots made.
  7. A living legend. One of the best there ever was, but I stopped watching the Sabres broadcast years ago. So inferior to so many other teams with the exception of Marty in between periods. I watched the Rangers broadcast of Rosen and Micheletti who are no spring chickens themselves but outclass the duo in Buffalo by having researched the team and actually watching multiple games of their opponents before they face off. Micheletti was hip to all the topics discussed on this forum (Skinner on the 4th, slow start for Dahlin, improved play of Risto, etc) and he referenced plays observed in both games the Sabres played in Washington. I fail to see the same effort by Ray, so it makes my choice easy.
  8. It was a great push and he was in position to make the save. Great shot, no. Linus had good saves in the PK. Point is Linus is not the problem with this game.
  9. The first line this year is quite the conundrum. They are out chancing teams two to one and yet Eichel, Reinhardt, and Hall are on the ice for far more ES against than goals scored. (The dreaded and dare I say forbidden or uneducated stat of +/-). They are a combined -14. Logic tells you that they will break through 5V5, because they have shown signs of dominance. But I still fall in the camp of moving Skinner to the first line b/c we know what history has shown they can do. Hall will get minutes on FL#2. Jeff just needs more 5v5 minutes than 10-12 per game.
  10. Coach Parseghian:I wish God would put your heart in some of my players bodies zarzy-zarzy!
  11. For the record, I fell in this category, but my rationale was Casey had no business on FL#2 to start. He clearly was outclassed in camp and Cozens has shown much better in a limited viewing, and at least deserving of that RW role. We can debate all day about why Skinner seems be relegated to FL#4 (or whatever RFK calls that line)....but there is no way in hell Casey gets those minutes before Jeff, or really any other player dressed for the game. With two player changes the lines needed to be shuffled more aggressively. RFK seeing the err in his ways early was a good sign, but a mistake nonetheless to start.
  12. How do you feel about Montour? If you’re interested in him, I’ve got a bridge in Brooklyn you’ll just love.
  13. There was always a reason for optimism. While you are correct this is mostly the same team, in addition to Hall there was the prospect of a true second line Center with better RW/forward options than Vlad. There was also supposed to be giant steps by Rasmus, Tage and Joki. The introduction of Dylan. Special teams was supposed to be given a boost with a PK specialist or two, and there was a belief the Goaltending could improve. So far most of this has not manifested in a positive way. But if we don’t maintain optimism after a 300 day offseason then we are all wasting untold hours. My rankings in order of disappointment after only two games: 1.) Regression/Slow start by Defense (Miller and Risto excluded). Especially Dahlin. 2.) 1/8 on PP. Need to make hay here. Too much talent. 3.) Goaltending not addressed in offseason, and not sold on Hutton whatsoever. 4.) PK - only two chances but currently 50% and it looks bad. Finishing in the basement probably warranted a change in coaching of special teams. 5.) Staal - Given complimentary players and nothing to show after two games. More probable than not he warms up, but time is not on his side.
  14. Jeff didn’t help his chances of getting moved up by failing to pass to Jack. Wide open.
  15. Not sure if this was posted elsewhere but you have to appreciate ‘Torts’ honesty about the situation in Columbus. He’s also not helping his GM. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.sportsnet.ca/nhl/wants-blue-jackets-tortorella-addresses-dubois-trade-request/sn-amp/ Tortorella’s comments are about half way.
  16. Right band, wrong song. 'When the Levee Breaks'. It has the connotation of a Goaltender breaking down, which would lead to a 'flood' of goals - metaphorically speaking. Psychological gamesmanship. That, and the bassline and drums kind of kick ass.
  17. The reclamation of the Concept of Jeff Skinner?
  18. But Risto played opening night in 2013 as well, even though drafted a year later. He also has more games under his belt with the club than Z. Do you go back to time within the organization if you tie on date started?
  19. Jason Botterill, the Matt Ellis of AGM’s.
