  1. Boston doing the ‘make so many dirty plays the refs won’t call half of them because they feel bad calling so much’ approach. Disgusting team. Deserves to have their players ran.
  2. Bjork had his career sidelined by shoulder surgeries. Then he came in and was playing doghouse with a short leash in the pro league where he showed many of the same ‘overthinking’ problems we’ve seen with Tage and Mitts the last season or two. He’s a skill winger thrusted into a shutdown 3LW/RW role and doing what he’s told. The guy can skate and his feet are faster than his hands. he’s primed for the same kind of outbreak that Tage/Mitts are under Granato, and also has a history with Granato to boot. Worst case he replaces Lazar. But he has upside. Don’t get his association with Hall tied up with the guy
  3. Hall is fools gold who has looked absolutely awful with no flashes of life for us though. He isn’t worth a 1st. He is riding name recognition 100%
  4. Why do some of you act like you didn’t watch Hall do absolutely nothing for this team all season? Hall and Staal gets scratched and the team has an identity all of a sudden.
  5. A 28oa pick that has a 50% chance to even be an NHL player on a team who doesn’t even have a scouting department is somehow better than a player just on the cusp of the prime of their career locked up cheap? Y’all overrate picks TOO much
  6. https://hfboards.mandatory.com/threads/anders-bjork-iii.2798440/page-12 Go read what Boston fans think of Bjork over the years. He blew his shoulder out which slowed down the start of his career. The rest reads just like any report on players like Thompson or Mittelstadt over the last two years: has all the tools there but isn’t putting it together playing grinding minutes for the coach. I agree losing Lazar hurts, but he’s a 4th liner we saved from being out of the league entirely a year ago. We still have Girgensons. Caggiula is an equivalent to Lazar. Boston is right to target Lazar but in the grand scheme of things he’s easily replaced.
  7. Bjork has three years at 1.6 then RFA. He’s another Thompson, but fast instead of tall. It seems the over reaction babies have taken over and logic and reason is getting sucked out of the vacuum now. Turning a freaking 1ywar rental into long term assets is somehow bad asset management? A late first round pick is lucky to turn into Bjork six years from now.
  8. Bjork is the type of player Granato would unlock. Lots of potential getting caught up in systems play. Young and in team control, something none of the other rentals have fetched in their trades. Going to miss Lazar though
  9. Ick. Folingo is the type of player to put Toronto over the top
  10. Wish we get to see Eichel under Granato
  11. Tage again is one of those mental players that rigid coaches destroy
  12. A 3rd for a big salary pending UFA we have no reason to re-sign given all the youth replacement options all budding is a good deal. Funny how people complain about how useless 3rd round picks are when they cried for days about 6ths being thrown away.
  13. Reinhart pick was over which Sam to pick. And we picked at least the better one. Just a disappointing draft overall that year after #1 Nylander pick was out of left field and totally whiffed. Again a Murray overlooked all the soft factors and chose the guy with drive issues. As if going into harder and harder leagues is somehow going to fix that?
  14. I’ve always blamed Steve Smith, even back with Housley, but yes essentially the same point. Coaching ruined our defense so bad
  15. We’re winning games with no Eichel, Cozens, Hall, and almost benching Skinner lol
  16. Everything Tim Murray did destroyed this team. Guy sought every useless attribute in draft picks time and time again. Ignored human factors and attributes time and time again that made other scouts shy away from the ‘numbers’ and assembled a culture less cesspit in the process of guys he hand picked and no plan B. No competition. He traded away multiple draft picks for guys who never did anything. He is the main reason we’re still in so much trouble today. Absolutely terrible GM. Botterill and crew actually weren’t awful at drafting. Not great but not bad. The coaching and pro scouts hurt his teams the most. His prospects all got rushed because the pro scouts were awful and injuries added up quick. His ultimate downfall was being unable to make a trade to save his team. So many almosts but couldn’t finish the lower value deals that were sorely needed. I don’t miss him much but he did get us back on track. Mittelstadt and Thompson under decent coaching aren’t as bad as the last coaches made them out to be. Cozens is great. Jokiharju before Steve Smith ruined him for Nylander turned a total turd he inherited into an asset. Of course his tenure will be defined by the ROR trade, but even RORa new team is souring on him. We had a culture problem from Murray and he had to go the guy is no leader. Adams just did what Krueger wanted so it’s hard to judge yet. I don’t like how Staal was blindsided about the trade- he came already given up on the game. He along with Krueger and Pegula bucks got a top talent like Hall. Now the players historic collapse we can leave the blame on coaches and whatever, but it did change some narrative. If he gets a decent deadline deal for Hall then we just turned a high dollar rental into a sorely needed asset in the future. Taking Quinn over his teammate was a ballsy move. He didn’t get us a goalie which arguably ensured last place this season. We shall see
  17. Steve Smith was so freaking bad. Ruined so much for this team. Not even sure Krueger was the end all—-Krueger left the Xs and Os to his assistants and Steve Smith was always there for him
  18. Steve Smith is finally wearing off
  19. I’m seeing passes from the defense, especially like Dahlin, that were never attempted before. ‘Outside the system’. Seeing jump in from the defense too. Steve Smith was a huge problem. Forwards aren’t giving up the zone immediately and they’re picking pockets. Also getting some more attempts to skate into the slot for once. This transition is slow but refreshing. The system was so bad before.
  20. I know the on ice play is different but Ullmark coming back made a huge difference too
  21. Okposo played like 20 minutes due to other injuries. It’s amazing we even scored a goal Blame the game in the empty net miss
