  1. They could use a forward or two, but I think not splitting up Eichel and Reinhart is holding them back even more right now. People are harping on Botterill for standing pat, but I’m not that concerned about being one injury away from Tennyson led defense corps again.
  2. The stretch passes got the best of them, but they won’t every night. Average goaltending and our offense not finishing on their o zone possession time killed them. Toronto is the first team they’ve faced who really would stall passes on the rush until the 4th player joined in, and the defenseman would get caught standing and our forwards caught deep in the zone were too far back to back check. They can be coached to prevent that in the future. In fact, it’s something they can learn from themselves. Toronto doesn’t win like that in a 5 game series. Not too worried. They were well coached to expose our two biggest flaws though. And damn they are fast. Wish our depth players had that kind of speed.
  3. Ugh NBCSN is hard to pull off when I’m traveling, can I get some help (PM)
  4. Kapanen is a player I’ve always been jealous of and definitely would trade a defenseman to them for him. That isn’t in Ristolainen territory, but Colin Miller territory. And that defenseman isn’t going to make them that much better only prevent some cap trouble.
  5. Pats game will be a preview on whether Allen has overcame the choking or not
  6. Kids who go from high school in two years right to pro always struggle with the physical aspect of the game. And that’s all I really see Mittelstadt struggling with. Too much of wallowing in getting outmatches and it’ll kill his confidence forever. Better late than never. He slowed down when he put the size on and then lost the edge his game relied a lot on. He’s only something like 21? He’s fine
  7. He’s the last remaining alcoholic on the team. Can’t stand all the goody too shoos anymore
  8. Girgensons/Larsson, Vesey if small deal, Holtby if term can be short, Namestikov, Dadonov, Pageau, Kassian I'm really just looking for a right wing and a 3/4C, which I'm hoping a trade resolves before UFA anyway. You gun for Holtby if you can get him without a stupid contract though, and deal Hutton away if needed.
  9. but... I thought if a player was red he was irredeemable. You mean different context can change a player?!?! Don't let this logic seep into a trade speculation thread.
  10. Last November we were getting lucky, 'cardiac kid' type games, and then were grounded. This November we still played competitively in almost every game, if not dominated (with a BIG exception for special teams) and was getting unlucky. They didn't lose faith throughout and luck is turning around. Special teams is still a MAJOR problem though. Too predictable and slow, and they think making passes through traffic will somehow change it. Wrong. It's the slow pacing which is why there is always traffic for the dangerous passes. I honestly don't think the PK has been that bad, but more-so that Hutton laid an egg on more than one occasion. Hutton really laid an egg on them and he was their 'starter' through that time. Glad that's changed.
  11. Edmunds was one of the youngest, rawest 1st rounders ever picked and they succeeded with it. I suspect Mittelstadt may have had a lot of 'I don't mind staying in Minnesota for 4 years unless you sign me right away' behind him, which may have forced the development hand. It knocked a year off his ELC at minimum. I don't think he's busted though. Cozens is following Reinhart's footsteps in WHL development, but with more grit, which lessens Mittelstadt's need to play center. Playing center I think is a large part of what has held him back all this time, so I think the two are related in that way. I really like McBeane and Jbott. I never liked Whaley. I understood what Murray was doing, but he took many risks and missed on them all and can't forgive him for that.
  12. People are using superlatives and calling these things the worst coaching decisions ever. When they are simply just a slight ballsy move that is moderately controversial only to meek feelings.
  13. ahh, the alphabetical order to cause so much controversy
  14. Scoring 2 on the first TD means they could've gone for the win on the second if they felt the desire to. Silliest thing to get worked up about.
  15. Yeah I get it, 50 mil in cap next year is going to be nice. Plus a draft loaded with WR. Nothing really Beane could've done differently. Some of our defensive allstars are playing with borrowed time though.
  16. Foster is trash. Guy gives up on every drive then gets overthrown don’t blame Brown there he was perfectly defended. but the tight ends left a lot to be desired. Missed tackles and dropped passes galore. Ugh
  17. Bogosian for Galchenyuk makes sense. Equal cap rental for rental
  18. I agree Hutton has been bad. I think the team needs to fix their damn special teams though. That is what lost this game. Hutton just didn’t steal it.
  19. Special Teams is a PROBLEM for two months now. Who is coaching it? yes they backed off in the second period but so does every team. They played strong in the first and last half of the third. Plenty of chances
  20. Hall played for Krueger in Edmonton. Players will follow a coach if they liked him, and by all accounts Hall enjoyed Krueger. He's gone through multiple miserable experiences since. That being said, I wouldn't pay a ransom for rental Hall. If they'd take spare parts, sure, but not 1sts and no top prospects not named Thompson.
