So many GMs looking at Yeo last year and trying to emulate the same heroic turnaround the Blues had such a trendy league

Penguins are trying to shed cap. Not get Bogo and be cap neutral without another forward to plug the injury holes they have right now. I think they want to shed cap and then use that cap to make a defenseman trade they actually want. aka not Bogosian

How does a team go from 11 quality NHL defenseman to not even having a decent top-4 either now or as a prospect in the future a couple years later? I think they were gifted with some absurd forward depth from teams like Florida, along with a good coach and a chip on their shoulder. They have a lot of good draft picks, but they could've avoided their current situation pretty easily I would think.

Ullmark started the season letting in stinkers, but has mostly shored that up. Hutton has been absolutely terrible this season. Ullmark is getting a lion's share of games because of Hutton's play. The defense isn't a problem. The lack of talent on forwards is holding us back, but even then, we aren't that bad on 5v5. Special teams has killed us this year.

Dead Team Walking - Are the Sabres Even Fixable?

Sabres are bad since Skinner and Oloffson got hurt. What do y’all expect? -

At least we beat the awful teams that we should. Huge upgrade from last year. -
Trade: Calgary Michael Frolik to Buffalo for a 4th
triumph_communes replied to Brawndo's topic in The Aud Club
His assignment on that team did him no favors. The guy is a PK specialist who is good on the 2-way game. Exactly the type of player we need, given that Vesey, Sheary, etc. all suck at that role. Not even Jason said acquiring forwards is complete. We always needed AT LEAST two new pieces. A top-6 and a bottom-6. Frolik is that bottom-6 piece. -
That wasn’t a terrible turnover lol. It was a crazy bouncing puck
-
If Johansson really is playing stellar then Buffalo sure could use him. Hutton laid a total egg this year

If fans could fire an owner, would you fire Terry?

Just because he wants inside scoops doesn’t mean he’s making any impact on decisions. -
Larsson is good. Watch his Sweden games. Letting him go I think is a mistake. Otherwise I agree with the sentiment, but trading Okposo isn't going to happen I wouldn't make it any priority. Just eat the cap hit and Moulson him if necessary. Honestly, he has been far from any problem this year.

Terry started hands-on, but has learned to keep the hell out. I think Murray broke him. -
They gutted for draft picks to pick a ton. Then canned Darcy and let a teenager spend his first paycheck on all the wrong things and have to beg for gas money to make it through the next week.
-
They all promoted guys from within. We had nobody within to even promote, hence all the terrible filler players on cap dump contracts. Murray gutting all of our talent has led to this. It's year 3 for Botterill- 'his guys' are only starting to bud.
-
Sheary has been awful and he was stuck with him for half the game so far. I’d wait to say much more
-
Thank god Sheary and Vesey got banished to 4th line. They’ve been awful
-
Eichel playing great

UFA rental Toffoli is not someone we should be aiming for, especially at high rental pick prospect prices

If Thompson and Mittelstadt don't improve a whole lot, I think they go 8/1, and they still end up losing a defenseman: Dahlin, Joker, Montour and Risto Leaves Pilut, Miller, and McCabe if re-signed exposed Or they protect Pilut and expose a rental Risto if contract negotiations aren't going anywhere. Or even if they re-sign Risto, they expose him anyway If Thompson and/or Mittelstadt breaks out, then they expose Risto and Pilut and will lose one. And that is what all our draft pick defenseman are for to replace them. I think the only mistake that can be made is pretending any of these players is worth forfeiting a 1st round pick to protect. 6th rounder-- okay who cares, but Vegas was getting 1st rounders to protect good players and in every case that was a huge mistake.
