NFL only had one game a week and plenty of time to weed things out and decide NHL is playing every other day

Eakin hasn’t been bad. Only Okposo cratered that line. And that’s how it looks on the ice too. Zero credibility about earning minutes as long as Okposo is playing over anyone else, including Lazar Mittelstadt played well no doubt. But I still think Skinner outplayed him for sure. Why Skinner isn’t at least on the third line is a stubborn coach.

Whoa some people need to back away from the ledge. The play from a 7D and backup goalie both starting in one game as the only reason we lost is not worth going short on the team. Kruegers only fault is playing those two players. Lindy rode Hasek into the ground every season. Lindy played his backup in this back to back. Fault there is on Kevyn. You can blame Krueger for Irwin over Borgen though

Hutton and Irwin are straight awful. This loss is on you Kevyn Okposo is a drag to his line. Needs to be demoted Mittelstadt had jump, deserved more minutes than he got. Oloffson earned the top line. Staal is a statue and it costs us. Dahlin is over his rust. Eichel still is a step behind his standard but is progressing.

Pipe dream because Hall and Eichel won’t get split up until game 45 if it even happens at all... but I really want to see; Skinner-Eichel-Oloffson Hall-Staal-Reinhart Rieder-Eakin-Cozens Girgensons/Sheahan-Lazar/Mittelstadt -Okposo/Thompson Eichel works better with two obligate finishers since he barely maintains a cycle anyway. Hall needs the puck on his stick so pair him with two smart players who always play hot potato with the puck anyway. I’d honestly swap Cozens and Reinhart here but them are fighting words Double shift Eichel between Hall and Reinhart like they are today when Staal is gassed, or let Cozens rotate in as 2C from time to time. Staal’s minute need to stay low. In the future, a third line could be Mittelstadt-Asplund-Thompson/Quinn that grows into a second line years later

Both Mittelstadt and Thompson have no reason to be in our line up. They can’t outplay anyone in the top 6 and we have better role players in all except Okposo, who wears a letter Does a team like Arizona bite on either one of them for a goalie? Or are we stuck on hoping Botterill will take them back?

Glad to see the advanced stats are matching the eye test lately. well, at least some of our eye tests. There sure were many people after game two ready to throw the baby out with the bath water. We played probably the top two teams for our first 6 games. And played well just bad puck luck. And this board is readable when they’re ignored 😉

This is where Eichel and Reinhart have been ruined. Girgensons started his career like Lazar is playing now, but he’s a shell of that player working through the losses. Eichel and Eeinhart just get fussy when they’re losing and don’t know how to channel that into better play, yet. Now with a real bottom 6 out scoring the top 6 in half the minutes, the pressure is on. Need to be patient this transformation won’t happen in a week. But we can already see the results and the underlying stats. Krueger last year didn’t have a bottom 6 other than the GLO black hole line (who didn’t score). This year Kevyn got him HIS guys (Eakin Rieder Sheahan) and look what’s happened.

Taking populations who culturally come from either southern US or literally deserts, and economically behind the average, and comparing them to numbers of a very expensive obligate winter sport is pure silliness. Nobody talks about the over representation of minorities in basketball and football like it’s a bad thing. Having an absolute zero policy for language and racism is okay and necessary. But beyond that, what could you want? The price and availability of ice time is the true barrier. And minorities deserve that barrier to be lowered just as much as rural white folk in WV.

Okposo is slower than he was in camp. Sad. At least he brings an element to the game the team needs Cozens actually shoots and is rewarded. The rest of the hosers should take note.
