The few Pens fans I know are very sold on Murray. And I think they should be. He won them a cup and is playing well above average this year on a number of metrics (the chart I posted above included). I'd argue he's a top 10 goalie in the entire league and he's Calder eligible. That's pretty nuts. Cost-controlled for at least the next 3 years too. I'm sure some team will bail them out and take Flower off their hands, probably even overpay despite Pittsburgh being stuck.

Keefe is the type of guy you could easily sell me on. Definitely not a retread, young with offensive upside much like our core. Taking a quick peak at his coaching career, from the CCHL to OHL to AHL, the guy wins everywhere he goes. Again, I don't have a bigger picture as to why. Might be fun to explore what players he coached, the stats they put up, what style they play now, etc. That's a project for another night.

Keefe is cureently HC of the Toronto Marlies. I don't watch Marlies games or claim to know much about him, but I've heard he is heavily offensive-minded and his teams produce solid possession numbers. There was a little buzz for him back when the Avs fired Roy. Maybe a little more buzz out there now for Vegas. He's young- 36. Viewed as a fresh-start, out of left field type of guy that could be the next great thing or could flop due to inexperience.

I think it's more that he won't get any time on the PK, and he's a great guy to have coming out of the box. Speedy with breakaway skill. At least that's why I think he's in there.

My power is out. "Estimted Restoration" is 9:30pm. That's obviously a shot in the dark (no pun intended) based on average restoration times. But I'm very antsy right now, hoping it's back up in time for the game. Maybe the extra half hour before puck drop will be a blessing.

Jason Pominville has quietly scored the sixth most points in the NHL over the last month. Tied with Crosby and Tavares, among others, with 16 points in his last 14. The population is rebounding a bit this year after last year's stinker.

Seth Jones now has more goals this year than Ryan Johansen. Joey has put up nice assist numbers in Nashville, but still a fun stat.

Today I took my first steps since Dec. 14 when I broke the ankle.. I look like an idiot trying to reteach myself to evenly distribute my weight and shift it from foot to foot. But physically it feels good. And mentally it feels great. No more scooter for me!

I love when Biron joins the crew. I enjoy his insight and just generally enjoy his unique voice on tv. Him and Ray chirping back and forth only makes it better.

We're having a Super Bowl lunch and blowing off the afternoon at work. I'm in charge of coordinating and communication. I sent out an email inviting people to wear their favorite NFL jersey. But I included the disclaimer: if you show up in Patriots gear, I will personally hold it against you forever. This email even went to our CEO. Yeah, I hate the Pats :P
