  1. Ha, poor wording on my part. Thanks for the chuckle, appreciate it :) The ligament is a big concern to me as well. Doc said that he won't know until he's in there if he has to artificially reattach anything. All I know if that it's mainly the sprain that's hurting me. The break? Eh. Keep weight off my heel and I'm fine. But try to rotate or flex my foot? The pain shoots all the way up to my knee. Oh well, I'm staying positive about it. Employer is being very helpful and understanding too (it happened while working). And my fiancee just finished her last test and lab rotation of the semester, so she's free to chauffeur me around now. All things considered, things are about as good as they could be with a broken ankle.
  2. The verdict: surgery on Tuesday. Getting a plate. And a screw. And possibly ligament repair. Should be fun :P
  3. Geez, hadn't even considered this yet. First time on pain medication this strong, so that's news to me. Thanks, guys! Heading off to my orthopedic appointment now. Will decide if I need a plate or not. I'm super leery of getting hardware in my ankle, but I broke it pretty good. I'm going in expecting to hear that I need it.
  4. Wow. Yesterday everything was so numb. I mean it hurt, but it was super manageable. Woke up this morning, and alllllll of that numbness was gone. Luckily my prescription zapped the pain pretty damn fast. Sadly I see how people with chronic pain get addicted to these things. I tried the crutches on the stairs, but right knee plus left foot is so much quicker going up. And sliding on my butt feels so much safer going down. Unfortunately I have outside stairs to get into my place, so I can't really slide without getting all snowy. I'll have to figure it out. We have so much ice that I think I'm going to invest in a scooter. Plus I just hate the crutches in general. Probably something I'd get over, but I know I'll be happier with a scooter. Quality of life, right? :)
  5. Haha guess I had it coming. I made a couple jokes comparing myself to Eichel when I was at urgent care. Turns out here in Ohio, the nurse and X-ray tech didn't get it... It hurt tremendously at first, then swelled so much that my whole foot went numb. Once the numbness wears off, I'm expecting the pain to kick back up. Currently very manageable if still. I normally stick to upper body injuries. First time on crutches, so I'm still quite awkward! Will have to get that down. Or get a scooter like Jack :)
  6. Good news- Jack Eichel and I now have something in common!! Bad news- The trait we share is that we fell on the ice and injured our ankles. Worse news- Mine is broken. Bad. I'm told it's the "good" bone to break in the ankle. But I'm currently in a cast and awaiting an appointment with an orthopedic to see about a surgery to insert a plate.
  7. Jeff Carter's comments after the game.. would copy/paste, but there's some strong language https://twitter.com/marklud12/status/808871673407700992
  8. I hope! Dreaming of Nylander-Eichel-Okposo... but I guess that's for the future '17-'18 thread :)
  9. I think this is a great point. Okposo and ROR are both fantastic at creating space. I loved Jack and Sam together last year. But I could get used to Jack with Okposo moving forward. What position is Nylander primarily playing in Rochester? I know he's flexible, but I haven't caught a game yet to check out where he's at.
  10. One of my favorite sites. I use it often for fantasy hockey, especially to check out power play units. Neat that they update so often!
  11. Yourrrrrrr Buffalo Sabres welcome the Los Angeles Kings for a Tuesday night affair. What happens when the Kings visit the Queen City? The Jacks win, of course ;) Suck it, Vegas- I can make gambling references! Last time these two teams squared off in Buffalo was one year and one day ago. Ryan O'Reilly fell down in overtime, but before hitting the ice, he did manage to lift a beauty of a shot blocker side, top shelf. That was against our old friend, Jhonas Enroth, whom is currently looking for a job if anyone is hiring. The game was a tight knit affair throughout. Marian Gaborik scored less than 5 minutes in, but Jamie McGinn answered less than 3 minutes later. The score would remain 1-1 until ROR's mark with 1:41 remaining in overtime. Here's a look at today's projected lines. Indeed, a new look for Bylsma! Will reuniting Reinhart with O'Reilly pay off? Will Eichel and Okposo click? How long will these lines remain intact anyways? I don't know the answers to these questions. But I will be watching tonight to find out, and so will you. One thing I do know.. there will be just one piece of rubber on the ice, and it will not cause any delays . Enjoy the game!
  12. Kind of thought so too. Nothing deliberate. Earlier in the game Price was also run into on a NJ goal. Mtl challenged for GTInterferance but lost. I think Price was still heated from that and took it out on Palmieri. Personally I thought it was pretty bush league to hit him in the head when he's laying on the ice, and pretty bush league for a fellow Hab to hold him down during the pummeling. But then again, I could see Lehner doing it and myself cheering along.
  13. Very neat, thanks for the backstory there. I actually thought the artwork was so cool that I brought the cardboard pack back in my carry-on to show my fiancée. She said she prefers cute pugs... Wish I had a chance to check out some local breweries in person. Was at a conference in Westlake, but we were shuttled from the airport so I didn't have a car. There was a liquor store right in the hotel complex that had great craft beer. It was easier to just pick some up there instead of messing with Uber and getting back late. Also tried Sasquatch imperial chocolate milk stout, which I think was local-ish
  14. I was down in DFW area recently for work and picked up some Rahr Sons.. Got a 6pack of the Ugly Pug Black Lager. I was impressed!
  15. Could this dog start at safety for us? :)
  16. Also worth noting... Risto has thrown 15 hits and blocked 7 shots over the past two games. Not too shabby!
  17. Ha, it was a pun. Glad it went over well :) In all seriousness though, I think his tremendous play warrants conversation about his longterm position. He is and will continue to play center in London, right? But is his longterm fit on the right side? I haven't had the chance to see anything other than scattered highlights, so I don't know his fit.
  18. I think he projects as a number two center.
  19. I almost went to this CBJ game. Damn.
  20. Well I was rooting for the Indians, have been following them closely since moving to OH. Disappointed, but happy for my Cubs friends. Calling it now: these two teams will meet again in the World Series next year. It ain't easy to get back in baseball, let alone have both teams do it. But just like in the NBA, these two teams will meet again and this time Cleveland will extract their revenge. A healthy Carlos Carrasco will be the difference. Ya heard it here first :)
  21. I think some of them have been aired on NHL Network. I have att, so I'm up a crick without a paddle. I pay for cable and NHL.tv, but att doesn't carry NHL network. NHL.tv doesn't care about that though. "National broadcast! No game for you!" These games aren't listed on the NHL.tv app as being aired on NHL network. The national Canadian station is shown. But I've noticed on twitter that people claim they're on NHL network.
  22. Toronto blows a 2 goal lead with 2.5 minutes left. We'll see what happens in OT

    McDavid

I have McDavid in my fantasy dynasty league. And I root for Eichel in real life. I think I'll find myself happy for years :)
  24. Zero assists though. Zero assists. That'll help me fall asleep tonight.
