  1. It is possible to add a defenseman or two and hire an innovative coach.
  2. ^This. All of this. I might add that if the players recognize that he's a bad coach it likely makes it much worse. That would probably snowball to them questioning the organization's plan, if they are truly being molded for success, whether to stay here long term etc.
  3. I got a big problem with him being benched. Disco has to put the same effort and resources into innovating his approach and clearly has not. The hockey world has passed his system/ideas by (and this happens in all fields), but we can all change and he has CHOSEN not to. He is asking a 20y/o to utilize that system and play at an all-world level within his antiquated system (which he largely has!). Yet it is Disco who has not invested his time into evolving his plan and putting the players in the most appropriate path for success. He simply has no leg to stand on.
  4. ESPN is telling me Markus Nutivaara just notched his third to make it 4-2 at 3:27 in the third...Is this not true?!
  5. What attitude problems? Why is he damaged goods? Trash? Please clarify.
  6. I agree with this, but my 5 year old son is crushed every morning after a loss. I also want the kids to mature in a system focused on puck possession.
  7. I'm cool if the mods have a "all Matthews is better than Ike" comments policy that includes an automatic posting of this exact statement. This concept must be drilled into the masses brains over and over again.
  8. Couldn't get through this without reaching for a kleenex...Damn allergies!
  9. I don't believe we could have made this move. 1st place Montreal, historic franchise, rival of the team that just gave you the walking papers OR a rebuilding job in Buffalo. In this case it is less about Buffalo and more the fact you can stick it to your former employer immediately. If you are Julien, what is not to love about that opportunity?
  10. Bingo. Tell us if the puck crossed the line, unless I am missing something this should really speed up the process rather than slow it down. I will restate what I said in an earlier post, can we let refs decide in real-time whether there was goalie interference/off-sides and leave this technology to determine if puck crossed the line?
  11. We've had the basic technology for 20 years. http://thehockeywriters.com/foxtrax-laser-puck-10-year-anniversary-reflection/ I would prefer they just used something like this to tell me whether or not a puck went across the line and leave everything else to a live call. One ref on the ice should be able to tell us whether or not a goalie was interfered with right?
  12. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qVCme_D7pV4 I have no clue how to link to videos so I hope I did that right. Either way, Ryan Adams is a national treasure. It may be a disservice to introduce him as covering a Taylor Swift song (he did the entire album), but this is still a decent place to start. He has dozens of great albums and changes styles frequently from folksy americana to straight up 80s glam rock. Hope some of you enjoy.
  13. What attitude? This is an enormous issue I have with friends, old sportswriters, etc....What do you want him to say? I cannot think of anything he or Mrs. Pegula could say to change your conception of them. Interviews/press conferences are also pointless. Analyze what happens during the games, players, strategies, and of course the teams' win/loss records. Everything else is just noise.
  14. 4 consecutive 20 goal seasons, an 81 point season after Chris and Dan left. Imagine if he was more competitive? The entire town, including our favorite local radio personalities, turned on poor old Roysie because he could not replace the idols our GM failed to sign.
  15. Derek Roy? Party animal seems a reasonable observation. That being said, I own a Roy jersey as a direct result of Game 1 versus Ottawa in 2006. Roy was probably 22-24 years old when he ushered one of my favorite sports memories that day('memba the shorty in the late stages of the 3rd period?!). If he underachieved afterwards by putting up 4 consecutive 20 goal seasons, 3 of which came after Briere and Drury left town, that's alright by this guy. I get it, he was never Briere or Drury and was slow on many a back check. See also Vanek, Thomas and Pominville, Jason...These were all really good players who would have been served much better with better play at the pivot (Draft/sign a center Darcy!!!!).
  16. You are either past me and/or I am future you. Your sleep suffering will be soothed in the coming months, and an entirely new set of problems will re-emerge due to the cause of your symptoms. But constant sleep deprivation is the flipping worst. At one time I stopped short of my home and slept for an hour in my car just to get a break from the no sleep, tired at home tired at work cycle. What time does your son wake up? That should also give you an indication.
  17. Holy false equivalence Batman. Grunge/alt rock is certainly a sub-genre of classic rock whether 97 rock wants you to believe it or not.
  18. Isn't grunge just classic rock performed by Gen xers? If you're into the Screaming Trees, please allow me to recommend Mark Lanegan's solo career particularly his album has God seen my shadow.
  19. So I just looked at the wikipedia and apparently Johnny is 'Merican?! Can Eichel center him and Kaner? Is that even allowed in future international play?
  20. Coller is the MVP of the morning show and that's by far their best local program. He also balances out Petey from 10-12. Buscaglia was/is also very talented and left for a promotion. It seems common at that station. You can clearly tell these guys along with Jeremy, Cich, Fisher put in hours of extra work on analytics, songs, topics, etc.... This is in direct contrast to the majority of what is available at the local newspaper. Most of those are recycled takes or quotes from the locker room. Is it just me, or shouldn't the newspaper have more to offer in terms of sports commentary than the radio station? Dunne is an enormous loss and almost everyone at the newspaper has on occasion written an original piece but too often it is just another hot take or tidbit we've heard elsewhere.
